Earth Day is celebrated annually on April 22 to raise awareness, promote conservation and encourage action. Founded in 1970, Earth Day education and events now mobilizes over a billion people globally to protect the planet's natural resources.

🌍 Key Reasons for Celebrating Earth Day

Raise Awareness 💚 It educates people on critical issues like air pollution, water scarcity and biodiversity loss.
Encourage Action 💙 It drives collective action, such as cleaning up communities, planting trees and adopting sustainable lifestyles.
Environmental Protection 🤎 It supports efforts to combat climate change, protect wildlife habitats and promote renewable energy.
Historic Impact 🧡 The first Earth Day in 1970 led directly to the creation of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and passing landmark environmental laws.

🌏 History and Evolution

Origins 💚 Founded by U.S. Senator Ga***rd Nelson following the 1969 Santa Barbara oil spill, the first Earth Day was held on April 22, 1970, acting as a "teach-in" to bring environmental concerns into the public spotlight.
Global 💙 In 1990, the event went global, spreading to over 140 countries to promote worldwide activism.
Focus 🤎 Today, Earth Day highlights the need for sustainable practices and encourages individuals to reduce, reuse and recycle.
