Ott is Outstanding!!

I am Ott, a sweet, 6 year old, people-loving kitty in foster for Journey Home Animal Shelter (Grand Forks, North Dakota). I adore pets, belly rubs, and all the attention you’re willing to give. I came in from a cat colony to be relocated to a barn, but I swept those humans off their feet being just too sweet and friendly to put back outside.

I haven’t always been the most cat-friendly, especially when I was dealing with weight gain and becoming diabetic. But with scheduled meals, a high-protein/low-carb diet, and insulin, I worked hard—and I’m proud to say I reached remission after several months!

These days, I’m doing great. I can see the other cats through a baby gate without reacting, and now that I’m healthy and stable, I’m ready to slowly start meeting the other kitties in my foster home.

I’m a loving, friendly boy who just wants a caring human (or humans!) to dote on me. Maybe that could be you?

I'm a diabetic controlled with diet.

Oswald is Outstanding!

Oswald is a very sweet boy with HART of Maine (Cumberland, Maine) who wants to crawl right into your lap. They are guessing he is about 9 years old. He has the cutest big ears and a very soft, brown tabby coat.

Oswald came to HART in August after being found as a stray living in a barn. When he first arrived, he was in pretty rough shape, and the Medical Team discovered that he had severely matted fur and significant dental disease, as well as diabetes. Since receiving a dental cleaning with extractions and having the mats shaved, he is feeling much more comfortable and looking so much better!

Oswald’s diabetes is currently managed with a low-carb, canned food only diet (in the shelter, they feed Fancy Feast Classic Pate) and twice-daily insulin injections. They will require that his adopter has an established relationship with a veterinarian. HART's Medical Team will provide his adopters training in the care of a diabetic cat, along with a blood-glucose testing kit, a vial of insulin with related supplies, and a starter supply of canned food. In order to make these preparations, he won't be able to go home on the same day that you meet him.

Oswald’s transformation has been remarkable, and he has become a favorite among the volunteers. He is not the biggest fan of some of his feline roommates, so he would probably do best in a single cat household, where he can get all of your attention. He would love to be welcomed into your home and spoiled with all the love that he deserves! Meet this very special boy in Room 4.

Muma is a Marvel

A crisis in her lifetime home left Muma needing assistance from the North Shore Animal League America family. Despite dealing with a medical diagnosis without the peace and love of home or family, this stunningly charming senior bounced back with heaps of gratitude to the veterinarians who helped her get her diabetes under control.

One shot each day and a scrumptious diet is all it has taken to put Muma back on her paws with a new lease on life. Because she’s part of the shelter family, expenses for her diabetes care will be covered at cost through their Pet Health Centers, taking away any obstacles that might keep her from finding her he-roes. Important to note: she’s an absolute gem of a patient to administer her shot to!

Spend time with Muma and you’ll soon realize how wonderfully, delightfully, purrfectly imperfect she truly is! She has been waiting since at least April of 2024!!! Make her a part of your family!

KJ is Curious!

Meet KJ - a loving, sweet, and incredibly handsome 5 year old boy with A Rejoyceful Animal Rescue (Clinton Township, Michigan), who has already overcome so much in his life. After being found badly injured and undergone surgery, he was diagnosed with diabetes. The good news is that he is responding well to insulin, his care routine is simple, and his vet is hopeful that he may soon go into remission.

KJ is full of life and loves to play, cuddle, and be around people. He’s extremely friendly, has the biggest eyes and appetite you’ll ever see, and even comes with adorable extra toes. With slow, patient introductions, KJ could do well with other animals and would make a wonderful companion.

KJ is a resilient, affectionate boy who’s ready to give endless love to the lucky family who welcomes him home.

Moshi is Marvelous!

Moshi is a torbie about 8 years old, living in St. Mary’s, Georgia (near Jacksonville, Florida) She has diabetes and it has become difficult for her folks to manage it.

Moshi is a sweet and strong cat. She was adopted from a veterinarian in Atlanta when someone brought the mother in (who was a stray) and she gave birth at the vet.

Moshi is especially bonded with her person in her household and likes to lay on their chest and purr and be petted. Like most cats, she every once in a while lets you know when she is ready to be alone and may give a light "bite" (not a hard bite that breaks skin) to ask for space.

She is dog friendly (she has lived with several now). She is also kid friendly, but typically likes to keep her distance from any "mayhem" that may be going on.

If you are falling for Moshi, please email [email protected]

Her folks are also open to providing some financial assistance to help get someone started if that is needed as well.

***Please keep comments and emails civil and directed towards finding Moshi a new home!*** ~Lisa

2/28/26 URGENT Greensburg, Pennsylvania-Diabetic found outside, being called Cinder. Friendly but in need of medical help. His finder can’t afford much more than they have done.

Cinder was stuck in a shelter because of ice but did not appear frostbitten. He was neutered, friendly and at first he looked well fed. His finder thought they could just find his home or get the vet to give him a once over and let him back out after the cold snap, either to find his home or return to one of the feral colonies in the area. They noticed he drank a ton of water and had had diabetic cats in the past and knew the signs were not good.

Vet estimates he is around 6 years old. Cinder was malnourished and only looked filled out from worms, infected ears, upper respiratory infection and finally a reading of over 600 when tested for diabetes. His finder has him in a crate that is big enough for litter, bed, food and to turn around. They have 4 other cats so they can’t mix them due to the worms and infection.

The ailments were treated but the finder is on a fixed income. Cinder did go to the vet yesterday for his second round of dewormer and to get his ears cleaned again. They were able to get a month of diabetic medication at $140 and Hill’s glucosupport food.

The finder can’t financially support this cat, but now can’t let him out to fend for himself since he has ongoing medical needs.

If you can help this panther boy Cinder find a new home, please email his finder at [email protected]

Greensburg PA is about 40-50 mins from Pittsburgh PA. The finder has friends that they are sure would take him a decent distance for a good home.

Mason is Mellow!

Mason is a handsome old guy (around 11) was found as a stray and he is in foster for Community Pets Rescue (Belvidere, Illinois).

Because of his unusually large belly, the rescue was immediately concerned and rushed him to the vet. Luckily? he is just round. But also diabetic.

Mason doesn’t seem bothered by the fact that he’s old and sick. He’s happy lounging, getting pets, being brushed, and he seems to understand when he’s being complimented for his good looks and charm. Potential adopters with prior experience having a diabetic cat a plus, but it’s not mandatory. Currently he receives insulin twice a day (1 unit every 12hrs) and is a champ with the needle.

Mason has been described an affectionate couch potato, dignified, gentle and quiet. He is good with kids and cats and it is unknown how he is with other animals.

Interested? Inquiries via petfinder are easiest for them, as the foster mom will get an email. https://www.petfinder.com/cat/mason-f8496809-3cd1-4a71-9cde-b9cdfcefa422/il/belvidere/community-pet-rescue-il950/details/ Thank you for taking the time to read about precious Mason!

Chickie is Cherishable!

Chickie is a gentle, shy senior sweetheart in foster for Chesapeake Cats and Dogs (Queenstown, Maryland) who has blossomed into a soft, affectionate girl who seeks out love and attention.

In a foster home, she happily enjoyed long brushing sessions (her favorite!), purring loudly for chin scratches, back rubs, and even rolling over to offer her belly. She's discovered how fun playtime can be too - especially when there's a little bow on a string to watch and pounce on!

In her foster home with a dog, Chickie took a little time to get comfortable but then settled into peacefully sharing space, allowing polite sniffs, and even napping comfortably in the same room. She does fine with the cats at the sanctuary, too, though they suspect she’d also be very happy as an only child. She prefers cozy, smaller spaces and soft surfaces, so a quiet home or apartment would suit her perfectly. She's a quiet girl overall, saving her tiny meows for the most important moment of the day - mealtime!

Chickie was born in 2014 and is generally in great health for her age. She does have diabetes which is controlled with insulin. They can teach you everything you need to know about that, so don’t let it stop you from falling in love with this darling lady.

If you have a peaceful home and a little patience, Chickie will reward you with deep trust, gentle affection, and the comforting presence of a truly special companion. She is soft, sweet, and worth every minute of your love! Apply here: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/CCAD/Cat

7/1/25 (Date of DCIN’s first post) foster or adopter!
Mavis is Marvelous!

Mavis is in need—and she’s too sweet to be going through this alone.

Born in 2013, this gentle soul came to Smelly Cat Rescue (Lake St. Louis/O’Fallon/St. Charles Missouri) in March after her previous owner passed away or entered care. Sadly, the family brought her and her feline siblings to a vet to be euthanized. Thankfully, the shelter stepped in, and eventually, she made her way to Smelly Cat Rescue.

At first, we thought she was having a FLUTD flare-up…but surprise! She was just in heat and needed to be spayed. We got that taken care of, but this week, another curveball: Mavis has been diagnosed with diabetes.

Mavis now requires scheduled feedings twice a day and insulin after each meal. That means she can’t stay at Cat Zen Cafe and Lounge anymore (free feeding isn’t an option for her).

We’re urgently looking for a foster who can handle scheduled meals and insulin (we provide all supplies, food, meds, and training!). And of course, if someone wants to make her part of their family forever, even better.

Mavis is the definition of a sweetheart, she follows us like a shadow at the café, always looking for snuggles and cuddles. She just wants to be with her people. She is great with all people, and cats.

Please share her story, consider fostering, or donate to help cover her care. She deserves peace, love, and a soft place to land. If that is your place, check out the adoption info here: https://smellycatrescue.org/adopt-a-cat/ or email [email protected]
