8/24/26 URGENT NYC ACC diabetic Juno needs out! He is on the at risk list but available for adoption! 3rd Chance! Needs out by Saturday 9/5 12pm ***Rescue interest but NEEDS FOSTER****
Hello, my name is Juno. My animal id is #136762. I am a desexed male white cat at the Queens Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 11 years 5 months 1 weeks old.
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 7/24/2026, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance- moving.
Juno is on the at risk list for medical reasons. He is a friendly senior cat who was diagnosed with diabetes at the shelter. Juno will require long-term medical management for this disease. Juno has allowed for all medical handling and solicits attention during his exams.

A volunteer writes: Showing me his belly and his chirpy little purr, Juno introduced himself to me by rolling over onto his side. A very sweet senior who finds himself here for the second time through no fault of his own, Juno has been trying his best to show how much he has to offer and all that can be if only he can find someone to give him a little chance. Friendly and outgoing around new people, he's said to seek quality time and will stretch out on the sofa in his efforts to be close. Most adorably, Juno loves to play and will do so very gently in an effort to respect everyone else's boundaries. We'd love so much for Juno to get a chance at a forever home. Please come and meet him at the Queens Care Center.

Observed Behavior - Walked right out of kennel and began head-butting, exploring the exam table, and purring; minimal restraint needed for exam/tasks (purred the whole time)
Evidence of Cruelty seen - None
Evidence of Trauma seen - None

EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted
Oral Exam: Mild tartar/gingivitis (no FORL appreciated on exam today)
PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: NSR, NMA, MM pink/moist, CRT < 2, lungs clear, eupneic
ABD: Non-painful, no masses palpated
U/G: Neutered male
MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat

Behavior toward strangers: shy for days and sometimes fearful. He tends to stay hidden when strangers visit the home. He is gentle when playing with adults.
Behavior toward children: respectful with the two children he lived with (ages 11 and 15).
Behavior toward cats: Skittle did not live with any cats in the most recent home; however, in the previous home, Skittle lived with 6 other cats, both male and female, from 3-6 years old. He is very tolerant of them and is somewhat rough when playing with them.
Behavior toward dogs: Skittle did not live with any dogs in the most recent home; however, in the previous home, Skittle spent time with a small mixed breed dog and he was very tolerant of him.
Bite or Scratch history:
Litter box training: He is litterbox trained and uses an uncovered box with clumping litter.
Energy level/descriptors: Low, Skittle is described as shy. His favorite activity is sleeping. When you're home, he'll rarely seek attention. His favorite toys are catnip toys.
Other notes: He may become afraid when being put in a carrier. He's unbothered when having his coat brushed or when being picked up and held. Skittle is reported to meow/cry when he's in a car. Skittle often scratches furniture/drapes and hides in fear.

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Juno was standing in front of his kennel as the assessor approached, face relaxed, eyes bright and ears forward. Juno made eye contact when spoken to and he remained in front of his kennel as the cage door opened. Juno allowed all petting while leaning in, purring, looking at the assessor with a soft expression and keeping his tail high in the air. Juno remained calm when lifted and placed back down.
Juno interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting.This cat is showing behavior appropriate for cat parents with either an average amount of cat experience or demonstrate a basic understanding of typical cat behavior.
