Want to make sure we communicate, we are not having our October Chapter Meeting, that would be Tuesday, October 13th.

Most of our current “active” members will be hunting this week in western MN.

A big thank you to Big Wood Brewery for allowing us to congregate yesterday for our annual pre-season Pint Night.

Many conversations, sharing of maps, stories and plans for time in the field this year.

We appreciate everyone that came out, and to the Big Wood Brewery family for the hospitality.

With the pheasant season opening this Saturday, please stay hydrated if you, and your 4-legged companions, plan to be out in the uplands.

We can enjoy public lands through Sunday, January 3rd, so there’s plenty of time to get out and experience all MN WMA, WPA and WIA areas have to offer.

With the MN Pheasant Opener fast approaching, our Board Members will be having a Pint Night this coming Thursday.

It’s not a meeting, it’s a social gathering, where we’ll be making plans for the season, sharing maps, and reliving stories.

If you’re interested in meeting our members, learning about the chapter, or looking to share/learn ideas for the season feel free to stop and say hello.

With the State Fair over, the DNR Pheasant Hunting Prospects Map is available on the DNR website.

Watching this map since 2005, the brown continues to expand - a great sign of habitat potential and wildlife activity.

It’s a useful tool for trip planning.

Thank you to the outdoor enthusiasts, hunters who respectfully access these properties.

Private land 🤝 public hunting

The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service has awarded Minnesota DNR $2.1 million dollars to increase public access to private lands for wildlife-based recreation through the Walk-In Access Program.

The program pays landowners to allow public access to their property without additional landowner contact. 🔶

In 2026, there are around 22,000 acres of private land enrolled across more than 220 Walk-In Access sites in west, central and southern Minnesota. 🧭

In addition to hunting, the public can use these sites for activities like birdwatching or nature photography. 🐦

The sites are open from Sept. 1, 2026 - May 31, 2027. All users of the sites must purchase a $3 Walk-In Access Validation online: mndnr.gov/buyalicense. ✅

The Walk-In Access Program is funded by this award through the USDA, a $5 surcharge on nonresident hunting licenses, and donations. 💰
