Sean Steward Studio - Studio Y This page is a collection of work for sale and all current and future events. I am a local artist residing in the Lincoln Square neighborhood of Chicago.

I am a classically trained artist in the disciplines of painting, printmaking, and drawing at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD. I describe my work as a mixed media representation of my life, my thoughts, my feelings, and my emotions as they relate to my environment. I strive to create a painting that is not only a product of my individuality, but one that gives the viewer a personal connection

to the work. My hope is that they may bring their own individuality and perspective to the piece. The process by which this is accomplished is sometimes time-consuming and involves many different stages in the painting construction. What I am trying to create is mostly unknown to me in the initial stages of the painting except for a loose idea and some objects. This allows the painting to change as I change throughout the painting’s creation. The product becomes more than an idea; it becomes a piece of my life. My entire body of work, which varies in size and construction, is made out of recycled materials. Most materials are found, donated, or the product of mistakes made by retailers (such as mis-cut or recycled frames, mis-tinted paints, and the free bins at yard sales). This allows me to keep a low production cost while still producing a high quality product as well as keep recyclable materials destine for the landfill. Howdy All
Sorry its took so long in-between posts shows have been happening but unfortunately with the pandemic no one including myself in some cases has been able to attend. Over the next couple of weeks I will be doing post of current and past shows I will try to make it clear whether the show is still up to avoid any confusion in case you want to attend. The Eagan Art House invites you to create or submit artworks for Emergence: Rising, our Spring/Summer in-person and virtual exhibition that explores transformation and the act of coming into view, rebirth and materialization.

New paintings are so close I can taste it! Howdy all sorry it's been a while but I have had to focus on family for the last couple of years. New work is being currently produces and will be able shorty. With new work will be a new website (currently in production). The old one is still up but it has not been updated for some time so please use it for reference only. I vary happy to announce that Sean Steward Studio has found a home in Sioux Falls’s own Eastbank Art Gallery where my work will be permeant display. For you South Dakota natives I will be having a featured show in the month of April and the reception will be that first Friday. See Postcard for details. Hope to see you soon.
