OUR OCTOBER WORKSHOP IS TWO WEEKS AWAY🖌️
Come learn the Mauritanian style of geometric henna designs! We will create henna prints on watercolor paper using the Mauritanian tape-resist method. 🙌
This workshop will be facilitated by Mauritanian American multi-media artist, Sarah Abdel-Jelil! Sarah Abdel-Jelil 🇲🇷
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP: Traditional Mauritanian henna uses a tape-resist technique, where you cut and place thin strips of surgical tape to form geometric designs. The henna design/pattern is made from the negative space (the gaps between where the tape is placed). For this workshop, we will explore these geometric patterns and create our own versions on watercolor paper.
📆 Saturday, October 17th from 2-4 PM
📍New Arab American Theater Works Community Space | 1011 S Washington Avenue Minneapolis, MN - room 308
