TurtlTracker Can AI help save turtles? 🐢

Here at TurtlTracker, we certainly think so. Happy tracking!

TurtlTracker combines AI and community action to track turtles, prevent road mortality, and make roads a safer place for them—one turtle at a time. 🐢 Join the movement at https://www.instagram.com/turtltracker Over 60% of turtle species are endangered or threatened, and road mortality is a significant contributor. TurtlTracker is a scalable app and social platform powered by AI, enabling anyone wi

th a phone and a heart for the environment to contribute accurate data. By mapping the true impact of road mortality, we aim to advocate for turtle crossings where they’re needed most, and help users adopt a small behavior (See a turtle, track a turtle!) to speed up conservation efforts for this, well... very slow species. TurtlTracker also includes tools to educate users on how to best assist a turtle crossing the road, as well as a robust social platform to connect and engage with other users. We will kick off our efforts with a private beta launch in Minnesota in the spring of 2025, and hope to expand nationwide in the near future.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve received a high number of turtle road mortality images along Galpin Blvd between Paisley Path and Della Drive near Harrison Lake in Chanhassen. We’re asking for community help:

1. DATA: Do you live or commute near this area? Please send us any photos you have of living or deceased turtles, along with the location and date the photo was taken. You can DM us or email us at [email protected]. Please do not put your safety at risk. Only contribute data when it is safe to do so.

2. WRITE: Send us a direct message with your mailing address, and we’ll send you a stamped TurtlTracker postcard and a short outline of suggested requests to advocate for safer turtle crossings along this particular road.

3. SHARE: Please share this post, especially with anyone who lives or commutes in the area. Small actions done by many make a difference for safer crossings and turtle conservation.

4. ADVOCATE: We plan to attend the Chanhassen City Environmental Commission on Wednesday, June 10 at 6 PM to present our findings. Join us if you’d like to support or learn more about how to advocate for turtle crossings.
