The core values of Hughes Foundation include being a voice and force of hope to those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS through our programs that focus on physical and spiritual healing, teach HIV/AIDS prevention, and help those infected with HIV/AIDS to live life to the fullest.

We are already called the “Party Room!” 🤣 A very special thank you to my dear friend Rochelle Cappello who has tirelessly taken me to all of my appointments this summer and for my dear friend Lesa Hudak who worked today from my Cancer room today. August 2, 2026, is National Friendship Day, celebrated annually on the first Sunday of August in the United States, India, and several other countries. It is a day to honor close companions, though the United Nations officially marks the global International Day of Friendship on July 30.

History & Background

First proposed in 1930 by Joyce Hall, the founder of Hallmark.

Established in the U.S. by Congressional proclamation in 1935.

Promotes the idea that positive relationships build global peace and personal health.

Common Ways to Celebrate

Exchanging small tokens like greeting cards or friendship bands.

Reconnecting with old friends via phone calls or messages.

I was looking for my medical insurance today and got all in tears when I read “Ryan White” who passed from AIDS in 1990 at the age of 18. Because of his courage to fight, along with his family, such as his amazing Mother, Jeanne White-Ginder, I’m alive because of him. Not just me but so many more.

We must always pay respect for those that have fought before us with courage and love so that we have life today. Thank you Ryan and to your Mother, Jeanne! My life is because of you. 🤗🤗
