A Garden Event Series filmed in urban garden spaces in the North Minneapolis area. This event serves as a catalyst for movement-building around environmental/social justice efforts. The series will capture the beautification of city lots used for Community Gardens, Public School Gardens, market gardens and Herb Farms in North Minneapolis. This event creates a friendly, playful, and welcoming environment, resulting in connections and opportunities for meaningful conversations and possibilities. From the viewpoint that space and place matter.
This project visibly gives exposure to artists, dancers, musicians and educators active in the Twin Cities, many of them civically engaged and socially conscious, but who may lack the resources necessary to bring their work to a broader audience.
Spearheaded by Musician, and Youth Farm Program Director Marcus Kar, Playing For The Plants fosters new connections across community and socio-economic lines. Kar aims to showcase community, partnerships, collaborations, an introduction of the Youth Led Urban Ag movement and efforts in the North Minneapolis area. Events will be filmed and edited by local Photographer/Videographers. The post production will be used as a measure of the season and the work we are doing on the ground in local urban garden spaces.
Music is recorded live and used to give exposure to local artists and Musicians.
