Our December child care center shout-out goes to Betty Bettin and her amazing staff at Little Huskies Learning Center in Jackson, MN! 🤗⁠⁠ ⁠ ⁠

Betty's journey started 42 years ago in a child care center — including 22 years as a Director. Her passion for caring for children goes all the way back to babysitting at age 13. Her goal has always been simple and powerful: help children feel loved and grow emotionally, socially, and academically. ❤️⁠⁠

With decades of experience following Child & Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and Department of Health & Services licensing rules, she knows the value of high-quality, nutritious meals and snacks — and she’s seen firsthand how the CACFP has become easier and more manageable over the years.⁠

This month's Provider Spotlight goes to Rochelle Thomsen of St. Paul, MN! 🤗

Rochelle's passion for working with children started early — inspired by her little brother’s amazing caregiver in rural North Dakota. When she became a mom, she knew she wanted to stay home with her baby and create a warm, joyful, educational child care program for other families. ❤️

Since joining the Child & Adult Care Food Program in 2005, she instantly loved the support, the helpful trainings, and the focus on serving healthy, nutritious meals. Cooking and gardening with the kiddos has become a favorite part of her program — and the children love exploring new foods!

From hands-on pumpkin science and baking muffins to family style, “best lunch ever!” Mediterranean bowls, her creativity helps kids feel excited about snacks and meals while exceeding CACFP guidelines.

When asked about partnering with Providers Choice, Rochelle says, "I loved the idea of being supported in serving healthy nutritious meals and snacks to the kiddos and being able to have some extra income at the same time for my childcare program. I have found the annual food program trainings helpful; I always learn something new! Plus, I really enjoy trying the new recipes that are shared."

We’re so grateful for providers like her who make every day a beautiful adventure for the children in their care! 🌈✨
