CALL TO ACTION ‼️This eviction on January 4th was particularly silly. The City forced people to relocate two blocks down from the original encampment, completely wasting everybody’s energy, time and resources. Now more than ever we need to SHOW UP however we can for our neighbors! This eviction caused major disruptions and the community needs support rebuilding. The linktree is the best resource for seeing the different ways you can support our relatives at Camp Nenookaasi.

Reposted from Have you heard of pods? I’ve been doing some pod-based organizing lately and it’s been going great. It’s really powerful to see my beloveds come together and support our shared community. And it’s so much more fun and accessible to organize sigh the friendships I already have, as someone who gets anxious with new people sometimes. I’d recommend following REP and staying tuned for their monthly pod study halls!!! It’s a great opportunity to go in depth on the history, purpose and function of pods and how to start your own.

URGENT ‼️ CALL TO ACTION ‼️ FROM MINNEAPOLIS TO PALESTINE, WE RESIST COLONIAL DISPLACEMENT ‼️ Our neighbors are in danger of eviction from the City of Minneapolis. We must commit to ongoing resistance against colonial displacement, from Minneapolis to Palestine. These struggles are all interconnected. We need to show up for our community!!! To quote Nicole ‘Angry Grandma’, WE NEED TO MAKE THESE MOTHERF**KERS UNCOMFORTABLE!!! We must show up for our neighbors, relatives, our most vulnerable community members. This is one of the most powerful, robust, and effective mutual aid networks for our neighbors. Camp Nenookaasi is an incredibly important space for the livelihood, safety, and wellbeing of the city. It’s meeting people’s’ needs, centering healing and harm reduction, and supporting our most vulnerable relatives.

Melanie and I (Sandy) had a lovely evening listening to two conversations that were hosted at the University of Minnesota.

The first was a powerful presentation by UMN students on solidarity with the ongoing struggle against settler colonial occupation in Palestine (invite posted, we forgot to take pictures 😭). The second was a talk by Kristin Henning on her book “The Rage of Innocence: How America Criminalized Black Youth” hosted by our beloveds at the Legal Rights Center.

💚It’s incredible seeing how deeply interconnected the struggles of policing, decolonization, resistance against occupation, and the safety and livelihood of children.

💚The liberation of Palestine is an abolitionist issue. Israeli Defense Forces have an intimate relationship with U.S. policing. For example, they often share tactics and tools and even visit each other for police olicing and prisons is connected to global decolonization efforts and the ongoing struggle in Palestine.

💚 Our global solidarity is so important. From the wall at the U.S.-Mexico border, to the Black Lives Matter movements of the U.S., to the Palestinian struggle. At the first presentations, I learned that freedom fighters in Palestine gave advice to protestors during Ferguson for dealing with tear gas and police violence.

I’m not going to show the faces of my debaters, but here are a few pictures from what we’ve been cooking up this season!

Abolitionist education is everywhere in our communities. This year’s economic inequality is perfect for that.

Slide 1) We visited Boneshaker and Seward Cafe in September to learn about mutual aid and being an accomplice

Slide 2) Our group visit to the End Youth Prisons exhibit in October

Slide 3) Discussing solutions to economic inequality

Slide 4) A workshop on mutual aid with community leader Susan Raffo!

Hell yeah, nerdy Southside debate students! Abolitionist pedagogy! I love these nerds and all their brilliance!!!
