On October 3, 2025, ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) introduced a controversial new policy called the Family Assistance Reintegration Program.

Under this program, unaccompanied minors are offered a $2,500 resettlement support stipend if they agree to withdraw their immigration cases and voluntarily return to their home countries.

These minors are children who entered the United States without a parent or legal guardian and are currently in federal custody while their cases are pending.

The policy primarily targets children who are not from Mexico, as Mexican minors are handled under separate immigration procedures.
