Over the past year, Seventh Generation Interfaith’s Board of Directors and staff have been engaged in a careful process of discernment about the future of the organization. After much prayer, consultation, and reflection, the Board has reached the difficult conclusion that SGI cannot continue in its current form, and has initiated the process for responsible closure. Our last day of operations will be January 31, 2026.

As part of this transition, we are committed to honoring SGI’s history, supporting members in continuing engagements through our other partners, and providing guidance and care for staff. SGI is facilitating meetings with national shareholder advocacy partners, so members can continue delivering on our mission.

Thank you for your support of SGI over the years. We are proud of the remarkable legacy we created and the profound impact of our collective witness in carrying forward Fr. Mike Crosby’s legacy.

Our executive director, Chris Cox, has a commentary published today in the Wisconsin Examiner. It addresses the risks associated with pending legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives. As Chris puts it, "Whether the problem is opioid addiction, climate pollution or toxic drinking water, blocking investors from addressing these issues ultimately hurts Wisconsin communities."

A bill authored by Wisconsin Congressman Bryan Steil would mute the voice of shareholders seeking to reform the companies they invest in.

Our executive director represented Seventh Generation Interfaith Coalition for Responsible Investment at a Vatican conference on faith-consistent investing. As one of 120 people gathered from around the globe, they explored the vocation of the investor, inspired to invest in the production of good goods, with a commitment to good work, so that the enterprise of business might yield good wealth.

Recently, I had the honor to represent SGI at the Mensuram Bonam Conference hosted by the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences in Rome. The conference drew about 120 people from around the globe t…

This is such important work, as Sr. Pegge Boehm of the Presentation Sisters Aberdeen, SD (who led the engagement with CMS Energy) said, "to create a more livable future for generations to come." Also, we are grateful for the leadership that the Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters gave to the engagement with MGE Energy.
