The forest is waking up… and it doesn’t last long. 🪻 🌼

Join our Land Management team for a guided stroll through spring’s first blooms: those fleeting native flowers (ephemerals!) that quietly power the entire ecosystem.

As we walk the park together, you’ll learn how to spot them, who depends on them, and why this short window matters more than you might think.

This is your chance to:
-See the landscape differently
-Notice the tiny flowers you’ve walked past before
-Understand the relationships between plants, birds, insects, and mammals that make spring spring

Plus, you’ll leave with practical tips like where to find these plants locally if you want to bring a little of this magic home.

Free Fun For the Fam. 🐦 🥾

Pack up the family and join us for a springtime Birding Adventure on the Ice Age Trail at Lapham Peak!

Guided by friendly educators from the Urban Ecology Center (UEC) and the Ice Age Trail Alliance, families will explore the trail together, as we search for colorful spring birds and listen closely for their songs along the way.

This gentle hike will cover about 2 miles, with plenty of pauses to look, listen, and wonder.

Round-trip bus transportation from the Menomonee Valley UEC is included on our 13-passenger buses. Please pack a lunch for after the hike and dress for the weather. Binoculars will be available to use!

This program is free
$5 donations are appreciated to support Ice Age Trail Alliance & the UEC

Space is limited, save your spot through the link below
