PRESS RELEASE
**FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE**
The Office of the Purcell Alex Pearson Achievement Scholarship Committee

Please read the following Press Release from the Office of the Purcell Alex Pearson Achievement Scholarship Committee! We must have just for Purcell! We need your help. If you knew Purcell or would like to make a statement about stopping gun violence in our communities, please send letters to Judge J.D. Watts. Every word counts. Every letter sent may mean a harsher sentence for the murderous young man, Tyrell Joseph. Him and Ismael Moreno chose to murder Purcell instead of purchasing the glasses that the pair agreed to buy from him beforehand! We must hold people accountable who inflict pain on our communities, and educate others on opportunities to better themselves before they make terrible decisions like Tyrell Joseph and Ismael Moreno.

At times, most times, it’s really hard to work in the name of a lost loved one. Especially, a loved one taken from us in such a despicable and devious way.

I was reading an article about President Zelenskyy today. This man is facing the unprovoked deaths of innocents every second, of every hour, of every day. And yet, he still instills hope and courage in his people. He finds the courage to speak to foreign governments and tell them about the unimaginable horrors and death his country faces.

I admire his courage and his heart. He motivates me to continue pushing Purcell’s scholarship. No matter how much it hurts. We have to keep going. We have to tell the world about Purcell, and we have to change this world for the better. Which is exactly what Purcell wanted.

🇺🇦 and forever screaming, Long Live Purcy P, The Man to Be 💪🏽❤️.

From Stephanie Johnson - Purcell's Mother
"On March 31st at 9:15am, at the MKE County Safety Building, 821 W. State St. Room 506, Milwaukee, WI 53223, Tyrell Joseph, one of Purcell’s murderers will face his sentencing hearing and receive his fate. Mr. Joseph, is expected to bring many supporters to this hearing to speak on his behalf and express that Purcy’s murder was just an “accident”. The facts are, Ismael Moreno and Tyrell Joseph chose to kill my Sonshine in cold blood that day, leave his body laying in the freezing, hard February street and evade law enforcement. They need to serve the consequences. Period.

I implore all of you who knew and/or cared about Purcy to please come out on the 31st. We need your help! We need your presence! We need to show judge J.D. Watts that my Sonshine was a wonderful, compassionate young man full of life taken way too soon. Judge Watts doesn’t know Purcy, and I need your help to get them acquainted, so that he may deliver a deserved sentence for Mr. Joseph.

Also, I implore you to send letters to Judge J.D. Watts before March 31. Your letters are another avenue for Judge Watts to learn all about Purcy before the sentencing hearing. Example topics could be:
⁃ Purcy’s accomplishments
⁃ Memories of Purcy
⁃ How hard it has been since his passing
⁃ How different our the world is without him.
⁃ How gun violence must be punished and eradicated from our communities

Feel free to ask the judge to give the maximum sentence for 2nd Degree Reckless Homicide!

Please send your letters to:
Attn. Rosalyn Griffin
District Attorney Office
821 W. State Street
Milwaukee, WI 53233

Thank you for your contributions and I hope to stand arm in arm with you all at the Safety Building on March 31!"

364 Days 🕊 🙏🏼

We love you Purcell. It’s been a tough year. A long year without you. It seems like we spent it trying to figure out how to go about our lives without you. You were such a pinnacle piece in all of us. One that kept us feeling supported and cared for even from a distance. We are still working on it. We acknowledge that it won’t be easy and that it’s not fair. However, we remember that we have each other. We’re going to keep pushing forward, loving and supporting each other just like you taught us.

And just how you shared your family with everyone you loved, it’s our turn now, to share you with the world. The world received a blessing on 09/05/1998, and it’s our full intention to keep that light burning bright.

This was the last Photo that Christian took of Purcell (Jan. 13, 2021). We were celebrating William’s Birthday. Like always, Purcy P brought his light to the evening, shared wisdom, and made the night more than memorable.

As February 6th draws closer, the day your light transitioned from mortal to eternal, we miss you dearly, Purcy P. We love you, and we know you’re proudly looking down on all of us. Continuing to guide and support us as we carry on your legacy in all we do ❤️.

“We’ll be sharing more posts in the coming days. We will continue Purcell’s legacy. Mark my words, the world will know about the wonderful life and spirit of Purcell Alex Pearson.

Please be sure to donate to the Purcell Alex Pearson Achievement Scholarship. This soon to be endowed scholarship at UW-Whitewater will aid students in financial need to achieve their collegiate dreams. We greatly appreciate all of the donations we’ve received thus far. The marathon continues. Purcell’s family and fraternity brothers are impassioned to grow this scholarship fund exponentially in the coming years. Thank you for supporting us on our journey. Purcy brought light to everyone he met, and this is only one of the ways we are seeking to continue his angelic works.”
