Grand Egyptian Museum

Dedicated to Ancient Egypt and its culture, society, and artifacts, the GEM is the largest museum in the world for a single civilization

The collection is amazing. A must see!

Access
Simply present ID at the information center at the front of the museum and they provide you a wheelchair

The museum is designed to be very handicap, friendly and has easy ramps for moving from floor to floor

This should be an all day event as there’s beautiful restaurants to dine at in. The collection is so large that at least three hours should be provided.

Access
When you are dropped off in the parking lot there is a golf cart to take you to the entrance of the temple. The cost is $1 per person each way.

There is a Wheelchair service available…the wheelchair and some one to push for $25 plus tip. The paths are very uneven stones. It is well worth the money due to the uneven pavement and heat.

A limited number of wheel chairs are available for use You can provide an ID at the museum store by the main ticket office to obtain a wheelchair.

The main Imperial Gate has ramp access, and the principal courtyards are accessible. However, expect:

* Cobblestones, uneven paving and slopes
* Raised marble thresholds
* Steps into certain rooms and exhibits
* Limited access in portions of the Treasury, Council Chamber and other historic rooms
* An accessible restroom within the complex

European airport connections

We recently have had experience making flight connections in Paris, London and Copenhagen. Many European airports are using the hub and spoke method for wheelchair assistance in the airport. The airport authority controls the services for assistance (usually subcontracted out)- not the airlines.

Our experience shows that they successfully get you off the plan and then forget about you in the holding area. Most do not let you use their wheelchair and let an accompanying adult push.

As an example we landed at London Heathrow at 10:30am and made our 1pm flight only by 5 minutes. We were lucky they were slow on boarding. We spent 30 minutes waiting as soon as we left arrival jet way, spent another 30 minutes in another hub holding area, then they finally pick us up to go to gate but we had to go through another security check that had huge lines. Security officer did not care that our flight was leaving said we should have gotten to security sooner- did not care they had us sitting in the hub areas. We then had to take a train to another terminal.

Please note this is not an isolated incident. We have written to airlines and suggested that get passengers through all necessary security before you get put in a holding area. One of the problems are further contributes to the issue. Is they do gate assignments very late and close to departure.

As a result effective immediately, we are going to book all of our connections in the US and try to get a direct flight to our European city please think about your situation if you need handicap assistance

Do you have difficulty hearing conversations? This tip is for you!

If you have difficulty hearing, your iPhone has several excellent ways to transcribe conversations in real time. Which option is best depends on whether you're talking with one person, in a group, or at a distance.
1. Live Captions (Best for everyday conversations)
If your iPhone supports it (iPhone 11 or newer running a recent version of iOS), Live Captions can display spoken words as text almost instantly.
To turn it on:
Open Settings.
Tap Accessibility.
Tap Live Captions.
Turn on Live Captions.
A floating caption window appears while people are speaking. You can move it anywhere on the screen.
2. Live Transcribe (One of the best options)
Google's Live Transcribe app is excellent for people with hearing loss. It:
Produces highly accurate live captions.
Works well in conversations.
Identifies different sounds (applause, laughter, doorbell, etc.).
Saves recent transcripts temporarily.
Download it from the App Store and simply open it before your conversation.
3. Apple's Live Listen (If you wear hearing aids or AirPods)
If you use compatible hearing aids or AirPods:
Open Control Center.
Add Hearing if it isn't already there.
Tap the ear icon.
Turn on Live Listen.
Place your iPhone closer to the person speaking, and the audio is sent directly to your hearing devices.
4. Voice Memos + Transcript
If you're in a lecture, meeting, or doctor's appointment:
Open Voice Memos.
Start recording.
On supported iPhones and iOS versions, you can view an automatically generated transcript while or after recording.
This works well if you want to review what was said later.
5. ChatGPT Voice Mode
You can also use ChatGPT's Voice Mode to listen to a conversation and summarize or explain parts you may have missed. It's not intended to serve as a dedicated real-time captioning system, but it can be helpful for clarification.
Tips for the best results
Place the phone between you and the speaker, about 1–3 feet away.
Reduce background noise when possible.
In groups, put the phone in the center of the table.
Use landscape orientation if it makes the text easier to read.
Increase Text Size in Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size if needed.

Easy access,  flat parking lot zero step entry. Hardwood floors, low top tables some booths do you have a step up. Happy hour every day 4 to 6:30 with great drinks and appetizers. We got the Aji tuna wonton crisps and the bang bang shrimp. Note we had already dived into these before we took the pictures.

Only negative access is they force you to use the revolving door but if you push the doorbell, they will let you in the non-revolving door !😀

We did the hop on hop on the bus. The bus itself may be a little bit challenging, but they do take their time to give you plenty of time to get on and off the bus. We definitely recommend staying on the first floor of the bus.

The bus stopped at the Maritime Museum. Please note that this museum has a wheelchair available at no charge. Elevator available

Another stop was to the fort or citadel. There was a wheelchairs available to borrow. There are two elevators to get you up to the different elevations within the fourth

We also stopped at the botanical garden very level and flat note. They also have a wheelchair for borrow that made accessibility easy.
