# Many of You Have Helped Bring Us to This Moment
I want to share with you what I believe is one of the most significant developments in the history of Foundation Builders International.
On September 13–17, I will travel to Nairobi with **Tim Smith, a member of our U.S. Board, and Dave Maxon, our new Director of Field Operations**, for a series of strategic meetings with Kenyan government and institutional leaders.
Many of you receiving this letter have walked with us for years. You supported FBII when what we carried was primarily a vision. You continued to believe in us as we developed the programs, established FBII-Kenya, built relationships, and worked through the long process necessary to gain the government's confidence.
**Now we are being invited to the table.**
On August 17, Lennox Mutua, the Chairman of our Kenyan Board, met with leadership from Kenya's State Department for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). They discussed how FBII can work alongside Kenya's existing vocational education system in areas including instructor development, curriculum and teaching quality, international certification, entrepreneurship, workforce placement, and institutional sustainability.
As a result of that meeting, FBII-Kenya has been asked to develop an implementation framework to help define how this partnership moves forward.
Our September trip is the next important step.
While we are in Nairobi, we will meet with the Secretary for TVET. Even more significantly, she is convening a one-day conference of directors from Kenya's government TVET polytechnics specifically to meet with us and hear what FBII can offer.**
Think about what that means.
For years, our vision was to establish vocational training programs that could change the lives of students and their families. Today, an even larger door is opening.
Instead of simply building another vocational school, we have an opportunity to help strengthen an existing national vocational education system.**
We can come alongside these institutions to strengthen curriculum, develop instructors, introduce international certification pathways, expand entrepreneurship and enterprise development, and better connect technical education with employment.
What we establish successfully in our initial partnerships can become a model that can be replicated throughout Kenya.
We will also meet with Equity Bank during this trip to finalize our international banking structure—another important step in establishing the financial accountability and infrastructure necessary as FBII's work expands.
The total cost of this trip for the three of us—including airfare, lodging, meals, transportation, and incidentals—is approximately $7,000.
I am asking our donor family to help us cover this cost.
You have already helped bring FBII to this moment. The relationships we now have in Kenya did not happen overnight. They are the result of years of persistence, preparation, giving, prayer, and people who continued to believe in what we were called to accomplish.
This is why I see the $7,000 not simply as the cost of a trip.
It is an investment in getting FBII's leadership into the room with the people who oversee technical and vocational education across Kenya.
Every gift toward this trip—whether $250, $500, $1,000, the cost of an airline ticket, or another amount—helps us take advantage of an opportunity we have spent years preparing for.
There have been seasons when we carried a vision and waited for the doors to open.
The doors are opening now.
