Well, it could've been worse. We've travelled over 2000 miles and completed 16 prison events in the past two months. We made a stop at the grocery store near Pensacola last night and our ministry truck (the Midnight Special) went kaput. We had her towed back to the RV park so we could unload all the gear and then we had it towed to the shop. It'll set us back $947.00 to get her back on the road. If you can help, your gift is tax deductible & we'd sure appreciate it. https://www.lifeontheverge.com/donate

Look what our senders have done!

Together with your financial support we have completed all but four of our Rattle the Cage prison events!

You've helped us bring a truckload of hope into places desperate for hope. It's not just about the thousands we've ministered to.

It's about the one.

The one son.

The one daughter.

The one mother, brother, sister, grandmother, grandfather.

Today, we head into Century C.I. in Century, FL - one of the very few Florida prisons we've never been to. Thank you in advance for praying and supporting the mission.

Jesus said, "I was in prison and you visited me." Today, together with your partnership - we visit Jesus. https://www.lifeontheverge.com/donate

We were still setting up when an inmate named Ellen walked in — a full thirty minutes before the service was set to begin. She wasn't wandering. She knew exactly where she wanted to sit, and she made her way to the front.

Suzan noticed her right away. She had seen this woman the day before, watched her come apart during the song What's Up — really come apart — and it had stayed with her all night.
She walked over and sat with her.

"I saw you crying yesterday when I started singing," Suzan told her, "and it broke my heart. I just wanted to hug you."

That's when Ellen told her. Just days earlier, she had received the news no grandmother should ever receive. Her 18-year-old granddaughter was gone. By her own hand.

Through her tears, she looked at Suzan and said what she needed to say.

"God brought you to me. When you told the story behind that song, I cried uncontrollably — but it was a happy cry. A cleansing cry. I know God sent you here to let me know He is still with me."

Inside a women's prison, in the middle of her grief, she had just been reminded that she was not forgotten. And somehow, so had we.

The day before, we had pushed four loaded carts of gear from the prison gate to the chapel — a hundred and fifty yards across a flooded compound in pouring rain. By the time we got inside, there wasn't a dry thread among us. But God knew Ellen was coming. And this sweet lady made it worth it all.

You were there too. Your generosity pushed those carts through the rain. Your faithfulness sat down beside Ellen. And your investment in this ministry whispered to a grieving grandmother that she is not forgotten. Thank you for sending us — and for going with us.

We’re headed into NWFRC-ANNEX today & Wednesday!

Many of you have heard us say that the mission of Life on the Verge is to:

• entertain the crowd• edify the Church• evangelize the lost• and equip others for the work of the ministry.

That last part matters deeply to us.

In Ephesians 4, Paul writes that God gives different gifts to the Church “to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.”

That’s one of the reasons we bring musicians, speakers, and volunteers into prison ministry with us whenever possible.

Could Suzan and I do these events by ourselves?Absolutely. In fact, on this current tour, 12 of our 18 prison events are just the two of us. We’ve learned how to walk into almost any room with a sound system, couple guitars, some tracks, and a message of hope and make an impact.

But something powerful happens when others step into the mission with us.

Other musicians see lives changed firsthand.

Volunteers discover they can minister in places they never imagined. Inmates experience the Body of Christ — not just a performance.

That’s part of the mission too.
Right now, we’re in the middle of this tour and still working to raise the remaining funds needed to finish strong. Fuel, travel, lodging, equipment, and bringing additional team members all add up quickly on the road.

If you’ve supported Life on the Verge before, thank you. Truly. You’ve helped us bring hope into some hard places over the years.

And if you’d like to help us complete this tour and continue equipping others for ministry along the way, we’d be deeply grateful.

Every gift helps us continue showing up in prisons with music, encouragement, and the Gospel — and helps bring others into the work alongside us.

We’ll keep going either way. That’s what we do.

But partnership makes it possible to do more than simply get by. It helps us build teams, invest in people, and continue bringing light into dark places.

Thank you for believing in this mission.https://www.lifeontheverge.com/donate

As a Life on the Verge partner, you mean something to Michael.

The concerts were done. Two days of music, ministry, and everything in between at Northwest Florida Reception Center — and as the last note faded, something beautiful happened.

A long line formed at the stage.

They weren't in a hurry to leave. The men wanted to shake hands, say thank you, grab an autograph — just linger a little longer in something that had clearly meant a great deal to them. We stood there and received it, humbled as always by the weight of what a simple thing like live music carries inside these walls.

Then Michael walked up.

He was in his twenties, a little disheveled, with the kind of eyes that tell you a person is about to say something real. He grabbed my hand and didn't let go right away.

"Thank you — and I mean that."

He told me he waits all year for us to come. That live music doesn't make it inside very often. That he doesn't have a tablet, so he can't even listen on his own time.

Then he said the thing that stopped me.

"Me and my dad used to go to concerts all the time. This just reminds me of those days."

He thanked me three times. Asked for my autograph — which I'll be honest, I always find a little funny. Me, signing autographs.

But then two other men stepped forward. They were holding concert flyers — our concert flyers — worn at the edges and soft from years of handling. They had been there in 2015. They had kept those flyers for a decade, and now they wanted me to sign them again.

I've learned to stop finding that funny.

Those flyers didn't survive ten years in a prison cell by accident. They survived because someone needed to hold onto something — proof that on a particular day, somebody came. Somebody played. Somebody cared enough to show up.

Michael reminded me of that all over again. And those two men, with their decade-old flyers, confirmed it.

Here's what I want you to understand. We got to stand on that stage. We got to shake Michael's hand and re-sign those worn-out flyers. But you are the reason we could be there at all. Your generosity bought the gas, maintained the gear, and kept this ministry moving toward men like Michael — men who are quietly counting down the days until someone shows up and reminds them they are not forgotten.

They kept a flyer for ten years waiting for us to come back.

You mean something to Michael.

More than you'll ever know.

The guys packed the chapel to standing room only before we arrived both days. Our planned two-hour events were instantly turned into three-hour events. We gave them two solid hours of music and one hour of biblical teaching each day. These dudes were hungry! Thank you for continuing to send us to scatter the life changing seeds of the gospel. Isn't that what changed you? I hope so. We'll be joined with a full band for the next six-events. We humbly ask you to invest in a ministry that has kept the road hot and prison a priority for the past 15 years. Our immediate need is for a new tow bar. We have dragged our truck all over the USA (with our RV) for over ten years - our tow bar is rated for eight. A new one is & $1124.00. https://www.lifeontheverge.com/donate

Your gifts of support will send the band to Gadsden Correctional Facility for Women on May 12-13. Over the past 15 years our partners have helped us put on over 500 events in Florida prisons - but this will be the first time at Gadsden for Women! Jesus said "I was in prison and you visited me." You can be a part of sending us to visit Jesus in prison. www.lifeontheverge.com/donate
