🔎 OUR FIRST MISD BOARD WATCH FOLLOW-UP OF THE ’26–’27 SCHOOL YEAR IS HERE! ✨

We told you what we were watching at Tuesday’s MISD Board Meeting… now here’s the follow-up! 👀

Several key agenda items moved forward, including 36 campus improvement plans, the proposed $460 million bond authorization, and TEA’s Corrective Action Plan.

But one important question remains: WHERE IS THE DATA? 📊

Parents deserve more than decisions; we deserve access to the information behind them. Jumpstart Midland will continue watching, asking questions, following the data, and keeping Midland families informed about decisions impacting our students and schools.

Because an informed parent is an empowered parent… and this is how we regain our VOICE! 🗣️💛🖤

THE MATH AIN’T MATHIN’… LITERALLY. 🧮😩

Midland is considered “property wealthy.” MISD locally generates approximately $313 MILLION, while more than $83 MILLION is subject to state recapture.

School finance is complicated—but parents and our community deserve to understand where the money goes and how it impacts our students, teachers and schools. 👀

As we begin the ’26–’27 school year, Jumpstart Midland is also continuing to advocate for PARENT DATA TRANSPARENCY.

Parents deserve to clearly know: Is my child performing on grade level?

Parents cannot advocate for what they do not know.

So this year, we’re encouraging parents and community members to stay informed, ask questions, attend board meetings and USE YOUR VOICE. 🗣️💛🖤

We’re looking forward to a GREAT year of advocacy, partnership and progress—because at the end of the day, it’s about our CHILDREN and their future. 💫

🚨 MIDLAND PARENTS — don’t leave $400 in reading support on the table! 📚💰
Your child may qualify for up to $400 through Texas’ new PASS program to use toward approved reading tutoring.

Your child may qualify if they:
• Attend a Texas public school
• Scored “Did Not Meet Grade Level” on the 3rd-grade Reading STAAR

What to do NOW:
✅ Check your child’s STAAR reading results
✅ Create a PASS account
✅ Apply when applications open this fall
