Congratulations to Avery Owens, winner of this year's Molly Greenwald Rising Star Scholarship! Welcome to the Better Tomorrow & Broadway for Arts Education family, Avery!

Avery, from Old Bridge, NJ, has been active in the theatre community since she was 5 years old. She made her stage debut in Once Upon a Mattress at Main Street Theatre. Other credits Include; Shrek the Musical (Young Fiona) at Villagers Theatre, Beauty and the Beast (Chip), and Once on this Island (Young TiMoune), and Alice in Wonderland (Young Alice).

During the pandemic, Avery found ways to stay creative and joined many virtual musicals with Kota Productions. Her favorite role to date is playing Annie in Annie the Musical.

She also found a love for voiceover work, and can most recently be heard in the 2021 Hess Truck Commercial! Avery is managed by Bercy Talent.

In Avery’s free time, she loves to figure skate, play clarinet, and tap dance. She also loves to hang out with her green cheek conure named Lyric and play with her new puppy, Cash.

We are THRILLED to announce that Makeda Armstrong is our newest Better Tomorrow Scholar! Makeda has been awarded not one but two of our Better Tomorrow college scholarships – the Arts as Advocacy and Joseph L. Dionne awards. Makeda has applied the $2,000 in scholarship funds to her pursuit of a BFA in Digital Arts at the New York Institute of Technology and will work with Better Tomorrow professional mentors at Disney and Pixar Animation Studios.
