I’ve been sitting with Carrigan’s words over the last day, letting them settle in the way only her strength, honesty, and grace ever could. Her message is a reminder of what courage looks like, even in the most impossible moments. And it also reminds me of something so many of you already know:
For those who have been with us from the very beginning, Co****le for a Cause wasn’t supposed to be a yearly event.
It wasn’t supposed to turn into a tradition, a community, a movement.
It started as Co****le for Carrigan.
A one-time effort.
A way to wrap our arms around a girl who has shown nothing but fight, love, humor, and raw bravery for seven long years.
But Carrigan, in true Carrigan fashion, looked at me and said, “No. Make it annual.”
She pushed me. She believed in what this event could become. She believed in helping others long before she ever stopped needing help herself. And she turned Co****le from a single day of support into something that changes lives every single year.
This year, her message hits differently.
Her strength hits differently.
Her gratitude hits differently.
And as she enters hospice, fighting with every bit of courage she has left, I want this community to remember exactly why Co****le for a Cause exists:
Because of her.
Because of her heart.
Because she taught all of us what it looks like to show up again and again, even when it’s hard, even when it hurts, even when life feels impossible.
Carrigan, you will forever be the reason Co****le became more than a fundraiser.
You built a legacy of compassion and community that will always be a part of all of us.
And we will continue to show up…for you, because of you, and in honor of every person your courage has inspired along the way.
Please keep Carrigan, her family, and her medical team in your thoughts.
And to everyone who has ever donated, played, sponsored, volunteered, or simply stood beside us over these five years…thank you.
You are part of her story, too.
💛 Love you so much C
