METAvivor Research and Support Inc. Metastatic Breast Cancer (MBC) research, awareness and support. Don’t ignore stage IV!
(209)

Though 30% of patients with breast cancer (BC) will go on to develop metastatic – also known as stage IV or advanced – breast cancer, only about 2-5% of total cancer research funding goes toward any metastatic disease, according to an analysis of cancer organizations from the Western world. Efforts to spread the word about MBC should go beyond Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Be sure to share this p

age to let your friends and family know how they can continue to help the MBC community! Visit our website at www.metavivor.org to learn more about the important work that we do. While most comments will remain posted, METAvivor reserves the right to moderate the conversation on our page.

METAvivor is devastated to report the death of Amy Beumer, former board member, from metastatic breast cancer, mere days after entering hospice. A professor of microbiology, Amy brought her passion for science and research to the board. Her wit, her brilliance, and her friendship will be missed. We send condolences to her husband, Will Guenley, her family, and all the people whose lives were made better by knowing her. In Amy's honor, and in honor of the 43,000 Americans who will die from MBC this year, we remain committed to our work, until no one dies from MBC

We are METAvivor: a coast-to-coast grassroots community dedicated to funding research that improves and extends the lives of people living with metastatic breast cancer.

As the only U.S. organization exclusively focused on MBC, we fund scientific peer- and patient-reviewed MBC research, provide peer-to-peer support, and engage in policy advocacy to drive meaningful change for the MBC community.
We are working toward a future where metastatic breast cancer is a truly survivable condition.

METAvivor joined fellow cancer advocacy organizations in sending a letter to HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr highlighting the critical role of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) in protecting public health.

The letter urges U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to preserve the scientific integrity of the USPSTF and ensure patients and clinicians continue to have access to evidence-based recommendations that support cancer risk reduction, early detection, and improved health outcomes.

Evidence-based care and early detection help improve outcomes for patients. METAvivor remains committed to advocating for policies that reduce the burden of cancer and improve outcomes for patients.

Mother’s Day looks different when you’re living with metastatic breast cancer.

Moments matter more.
Time feels shorter.
Love feels bigger.

Today, we honor the mothers, the daughters, the caregivers, and the legacies they carry forward. We also hold space for those whose chance to become mothers was taken, and for those missing their moms today because of metastatic breast cancer.
We are grateful for more time, more options, and more life.
