Hey! Hey! Yes, you! I'm talking to you!

What are you doing all the way over there? Come on over here! Don't let my size fool you. I know I'm a big boy, but I'm really just a big baby. Come give me some attention and maybe a good butt scratch while you're at it!

My name is Bruiser, and while I may be large and in charge, I'm really just one big mush. My foster mom says I'm the best boy. I go into my crate when I'm told, I rarely bark, and I absolutely love my people. I also love carrying my favorite stuffy around wherever I go.

Want to go for a walk? Because I sure do! I love being outside and exploring the world. Now, I'll be honest—I can pull a little on the leash sometimes. But that's only because I get so excited about all the sights, smells, and adventures waiting for me. The good news is I'm smart, eager to learn, and very trainable if you're willing to spend a little time helping me.

I like other dogs, too, but I do enjoy being the boss man. Because of that, I might do best as the only male dog in the home. Really, though, I just love everyone and everything. My biggest wish is to find someone who will love me as much as I'll love them.

My foster mom says I'm an amazing dog and that once I find my perfect family, everyone is going to be happy. I think she's right.

So what do you think? Could you be my person? Could I be your main man?

If so, I'd love for you to reach out and say hello. I've been waiting for my forever family, and I can't wait to meet them.

Love,
Bruiser ❤️

🚨 FOSTER NEEDED FOR MURPHY 🚨

Meet Murphy. ❤️

Murphy is an absolute sweetheart—a gentle soul who has clearly endured far more than any dog ever should.

When Murphy arrived as part of The Freed Thirteen, he was so scared that he wouldn't even get off the transport truck on his own. He eventually started moving, but every step was slow and cautious. After years of living a life we can only imagine, trust does not come easily.

Murphy is estimated to be over 7 years old and is the oldest dog in The Freed Thirteen. That means he likely spent years confined outdoors, used only for breeding, with little care for his health or comfort. The condition he arrived in tells a heartbreaking story.

You can see that one of Murphy's eyes has already been removed. What you can't see is that his remaining eye is suspected to have glaucoma. Last night, his eye began bleeding, and we rushed him to the emergency veterinarian. Thankfully, he was given pain medication and instructions for ongoing care, including warm compresses several times a day. We are grateful that Director Susan and Volunteer Nancy have stepped in to help him for now, but Murphy urgently needs a foster home where he can rest, recover, and finally feel safe.

His medical challenges don't stop there. Murphy is suffering from severe dental disease. His examination revealed Grade 4 periodontal disease, heavy calculus buildup, severe gingivitis, debris trapped in his teeth, and numerous missing teeth. When Director Stacey offered him treats, Murphy couldn't chew them unless they were softened first.

Tomorrow, Murphy will visit an eye specialist. Once his eye issues are addressed, he will need extensive dental treatment to relieve the pain he has likely been living with for years.

Despite everything, Murphy remains gentle, kind, and deserving of a future filled with comfort, love, and care.

If you can open your home to foster Murphy, please reach out to us. He needs a quiet, patient environment where he can heal and learn that people can be kind.

We know the road ahead will be expensive, but we are committed to giving Murphy the life he has always deserved. If you would like to help Murphy and The Freed Thirteen, please consider making a donation through Facebook, our website, or Venmo (). Every dollar helps provide the medical care these dogs urgently need.

Please keep Murphy in your thoughts and follow along as we share the stories of each of The Freed Thirteen. Their journey to freedom is only just beginning.

NJBR Announcement Alert — The Freed Thirteen

Over the past three months, our directors have been working closely with a county shelter in Maryland on a heartbreaking case involving Boxers who were seized at the beginning of March. What began as 10 dogs in need quickly became 8 that we committed to pull into rescue.

And then, just this week, everything changed again—five tiny puppies were born in custody. Now there are 13 lives who will need us to step in and carry them forward.

These dogs came from conditions that are difficult to put into words. During the investigation, animal control officers documented unsanitary living spaces, outdoor confinement without consistent access to water, the strong odor of waste, and overcrowded enclosures lacking proper food, shelter, and basic care. These dogs were reportedly being used for breeding in conditions no animal should ever endure.

It is hard not to feel anger. It is harder still not to feel heartbreak.

But right now, our focus is not on what was done to them. Our focus is on what we can do for them—starting now.

These Boxers and their puppies are finally getting their chance at something they have never known before: safety, warmth, kindness, and the beginning of healing. But the road ahead will not be easy.

Many will require extensive veterinary care, proper nutrition,
rehabilitation, and time—time to learn that people can be gentle, and that the world can be safe.

We cannot do this without you.

If you are able, please consider making a donation. Every single dollar goes directly toward emergency medical care, supplies, food, and the daily needs of these 13 innocent lives as they begin again. No gift is too small—each one becomes part of their second chance.

We will continue to share their stories as they arrive into rescue—who they are, what they’ve endured, and most importantly, who they are becoming as they start to heal.

Thank you for standing with them when they needed it most.
