Recession Proof Holdings Foundation for Military and Veterans Affairs We empower our nation's heroes to thrive in civilian life. Please consider helping this noble cause as you see fit and are able.

Recession Proof Holdings' Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, supports military personnel, veterans, and their families with educational resources, career, family support, and emergency aid. Having considerable success, I began to volunteer with many veteran-based organizations as a way to give back to the many Military personnel and Veterans who go underserved. iven to me, I served as a Veterans Service Representative and a Veterans Service Representative Rating Specialist for over 15 years. I had a knack for extracurricular activities and during this time of employment, I became a Trainer, Trainer of Trainers, Chief Steward, and Vice President within our Local Union, and Organizer with the District Union. I wrote a Monthly Newsletter for the office, served on some of the most critical think tanks as we moved into paperless claims, earned several awards, bonuses for my contributions to the enhancement of the Department's Mission. Having had considerable success in business and volunteering with several organizations that support veterans, we foundered Recession Proof Holdings' Foundation for Military and Veterans Affairs. Having had the distinct honor to serve and be stationed with one of the Elite Units (The 101st Airborne Division), I only found it my calling to support both current Military Service Members, as well as, former Military Service Members (Veterans) and their families. The possibilities are endless but we can only complete this mission with the love, support, and help from the population we serve, those who came before us in support of our freedoms, and patriotic philanthropists like yourself. Forever Grateful,

Jeffrey Murphy, Executive Director

As we observe Women’s History Month, we recognize a new generation of women serving alongside their fellow service members in today’s global conflicts. We are proud to honor them—and the generations before them—who have defended our nation across every chapter of U.S. military history. From early trailblazers who broke barriers to today’s leaders in uniform, women veterans have left an undeniable mark on our armed forces and now represent the fastest-growing segment of the veteran population.

The Recession Proof Holdings Foundation for Military and Veterans Affairs remains committed to ensuring women veterans receive the care, benefits, and recognition they have earned. This includes advocating for improved VA maternity care, expanded gender-specific health services, and equitable access to benefits without unnecessary barriers.

This month—and every month—we honor the service, sacrifice, and lasting impact of women veterans.

Brain Injury Awareness Month

The scars of service aren’t always visible. And oftentimes, it’s the invisible wounds that cause veterans to face challenges they never thought they’d experience.

This is something many Navy fast boat operators—like Anthony Smith—know all too well. Fast boat crews sustain high speeds—reaching nearly 60 mph—for eight to 16 hours at a time, often under the cover of darkness, slamming into waves every few seconds.

As a result, fast boat veterans, especially those who’ve served for multiple deployments like Anthony, are displaying symptoms similar to chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a brain injury caused by repeated blows to the head. CTE comes with a range of symptoms, including memory loss, depression, substance abuse and suicidality.

'Brains are destroyed. Bodies are destroyed. They can't walk. Some of their wives are their caretakers. This is the entire [veteran fast boat operator] community.'/ Anthony Smith Navy Veteran

Unfortunately, due to the limitations of diagnostic tests, many veterans aren’t able to get a brain injury diagnosis. The symptoms they present are often written off by military leadership as behavioral issues or something attributed to the community’s lifestyle.

March is Brain Injury Awareness Month, a time to spread awareness about TBIs and other brain injuries. DAV is fighting for veterans with TBIs. We’re advocating for a deeper understanding of brain injuries that would allow for better preventative measures, better treatment options and validation for veterans who’ve been saying their brain is injured but struggle to receive an accurate diagnosis.

VA Is Rewriting Big Pieces of the Disability Rating Playbook

VA is in the middle of a multi-year effort to modernize the Veterans Affairs Schedule for Rating Disabilities, the regulatory framework that assigns percentage ratings intended to approximate average impairment post-service, as authorized by statute.

What VA Says It Is Doing, and Where the Answers Live

VA has described the modernization effort as necessary to reflect advances in medical treatment, updated diagnostic standards, and technologies that did not exist when much of the schedule was last revised.

The agency has stated that, once complete, this will represent the first comprehensive update of the rating schedule since its post-World War II restructuring in 1945, a claim reflected in VA’s own explanation of the project and echoed in oversight reporting by the Government Accountability Office.

When asked directly why VA is proposing changes to sleep apnea ratings and how those changes would affect veterans whose symptoms are controlled by CPAP therapy, VA Press Secretary Pete Kasperowicz declined to answer those questions in individualized terms. Instead, he pointed to the pending rulemaking and indicated the rationale for the changes is laid out in the Federal Register notice itself, while questions about how the proposal would work in practice remain under consideration as VA reviews public comments.

A policy requiring VA medical examiners to include effects of medication in assigning disability ratings is expected to be formally rescinded on Feb. 27.
