Good morning, Northwest Indiana. Last night, our Board of Directors came together for a very important discussion regarding the future of our organization. After considering multiple topics and discussing what would be best for everyone involved, the Board made the decision to dissolve Pink Heals Northwest Indiana.
There are multiple factors that contributed to this decision, including changes in personal circumstances, leadership availability, the time and resources required to properly operate the organization, and our ability to continue giving this chapter the attention and commitment it deserves.
Pink Heals Northwest Indiana started because I saw first hand what Pink Heals does for a person, for a community. When somebody is dealing with life’s hardest struggles and are at their worst, seeing a pink fire truck or ambulance lifts their spirits and brightens their path. We wanted to bring that to Northwest Indiana to accomplish that same goal, and I think we did an excellent job! Although our time serving Northwest Indiana was shorter than we originally had hoped, we are incredibly proud of what we were able to accomplish.
We brought our pink fire engine, Sherry, home from Peoria. We participated in community events, parades, touch-a-trucks, and fundraisers. Most importantly, we had the privilege of conducting home visits and meeting some truly incredible individuals along the way. Those moments are something that we will never forget.
We want to sincerely thank every person who supported us from the beginning. Thank you to the individuals and businesses who donated, purchased merchandise, volunteered their time, invited us to events, shared our posts, helped us behind the scenes, and believed in what we were trying to build. We would also like to thank all of the Pink Heals chapters that donated their wisdom and equipment to us so that we can carry out our mission successfully! Your levels of dedication to the Pink Heals movement is beyond amazing, and your respective communities are lucky to have you!
Most importantly, thank you to all of the families who allowed us into their lives. Being able to show up at someone's home with Sherry, surround them with support, and remind them that their community was standing behind them was the reason this organization existed in the first place. It was an honor we will never take for granted.
While the organization may be coming to an end, the impact of the people we met and the memories we made will remain with us for a very long time.
Over the coming weeks, we will work through the formal process of winding down the organization and handling our remaining responsibilities appropriately. We will provide any additional information that our supporters may need as that process moves forward.
From all of us at Pink Heals Northwest Indiana, thank you for welcoming us, supporting us, and allowing us the opportunity to serve this community. It has truly been an honor to serve Northwest Indiana.
