We hosted a panel of sponge and coral experts for a Q&A session after one of our film screenings. Bill Sharp, a research administrator for Florida’s Fish and Wildlife Research Institute, has had a long career in marine science and currently leads research efforts exploring the role sponges play in the hard-bottomed habitats of Florida Bay.

Dives is a Blue Star Dive Operator in the Florida Keys. This means they are dedicated to protecting the ocean and communicate to their guests how to responsibly enjoy the reef. On this dive the Giant Barrel sponges stole the show, but watch for the hammerhead that snuck by at the end of the dive!
Key Dives also regularly partners with I.CARE to host citizen-science dives to participate in coral reef sponge restoration.
