For those of you whose acquaintance I haven’t had the privilege of making, my name is Bill Cure Jr., I am the founder of Billion Hearts Inc. Growing up the son of a minister, I learned at an early age about giving. My mother started out as the youth director, leading and guiding the y
outh at church. She would also help in the community by providing not only clothes, gifts and food to the less for
tunate, but would even make sure each child received a scholarship. One of the things that brought her the most joy was feeding the hungry. Often she would wake my sister and me up to help her and we would open the church doors to whoever needed food to eat until the food was finished ...what a feeling!! While feeding the hungry during the holiday season, I realized that lot of kids were without toys. The following year I hand delivered 39 toys to 39 kids 25 years ago with the help of my family, friends and coworkers. We were able to add more and more each year. Now we have up to 5,000 kids that we give gifts to during Christmas. By having the name, age and gender of each child, we’re able to ensure that everyone receives the appropriate gift. Now the fun part begins!! I become Santa Claus from head to toe, fully geared and ready to deliver. At times, behind the big beard and mustache, I would find myself in tears of joy! …Again, what a feeling! As I pick up the baton my mom passed to me, I feel her energy, strength and wisdom and for that, I know she’s looking down on me smiling and resting in peace. I’m thankful for the gift she has given me. Now I am reaching out to you, requesting gifts or monetary gifts to help buy gifts, wrapping paper, etc in order to be able to give each needy child a gift during this season. With the help of family and friends, we will wrap each gift. I dress up each year as Santa Claus and hand deliver all the gifts to each child at school, church and communities. I hope you find it in your heart to help us reach out to the kids that are in need. Our volunteers say they feel rewarded many times over for the help they provide in making a difference in the lives of others.
