Kids...smarter than all calculations and profitable projections. Why they are even still entertaining this idea is beyond me.

I often learn more from answering my 6-year-old son’s endless questions than he does. Usually we make it a game, searching out answers together to queries like, “How many stars are there?” or, “What is in our air?” (it’s almost 80 percent nitrogen).

Listening to former Miami Mayor talk about why building a sustainable future is so important for a large metropolis like Miami. Very inspiring to see such a strong political leader have such an innovative vision for this city.

It was a great opening at Day 1 of the MIA Green Expo. This green focused event, brings together companies from across the globe in industries such as solar, technology, architecture and many more all with a focus of achieving a sustainable future.

I was very impressed with the diversity, and although the solar industry had a large presence it was not overwhelming and there was an interesting variety of vendors.

These types of expos demonstrate the power of grass roots efforts and the collaborative energy that arises from such functions.

I can only hope that this conference will grow in the future and one day possibly appeal to a broader audience and serve as a local educational tool for students & professionals.

D.Y.K. 2.0 of the Day...

Plastic bags are responsible for killing an estimated 1 million birds PER YEAR along with 100,000 animals ranging from dolphins to seals and even whales!

Although you may "re-use" a plastic bag, when you put it in the trash or use it as a trash bag you are cutting the could-be long life of the bag instead of recycling it & allowing it to be re-used an infinite amount of times.

Tip: Use a waste basket that requires no bag & is easy to clean, eliminating the need for a "trash" bags will save hundreds of bags per year from being sent to the landfill on your behalf.

Did you know that Plastic Bags that are NOT recycled properly take up to 1 THOUSAND YEARS to disintegrate back into the environment?

PLEASE get yourself some re-usable grocery bags.
They are foldable, strong & are very inexpensive.

Tip:
Buy the Holiday ones when they go out of season & are often buy one, get one free deals or get creative and use old purses and bags...start a trend people.
