Compliance leadership looks different when the decisions get harder.

It’s easy to talk about compliance when the answer is clear.

It’s harder when the business wants to move faster. When the regulations haven’t caught up. When the risk is real but difficult to quantify. When the right decision is unpopular. And when everyone in the room is looking to you for an answer.

AI is moving faster than most organizations can govern it.

Every day, leaders are being asked to make decisions about technologies that can transform their organizations—sometimes before anyone fully understands the consequences.

The opportunity is enormous.

So is the responsibility.

Because when AI gets it right, the results can be extraordinary. But when it gets it wrong, the algorithm won’t carry the consequences. People and organizations will.

That is why AI governance can no longer be treated as simply a technology issue. It is a leadership issue. A risk issue. A trust issue.

At the 2026 NABCRMP Annual Summit, Mendy Ouzillou, Principal at MMOmentum Coaching, will challenge C-suite leaders and boards to think differently about what responsible AI leadership actually requires.

Today, we honor the work, but we also honor the people behind it...

From protecting organizations and communities, to strengthening systems and shaping the future of GRC, the work we do matters.

But on this Labor Day, we want to remind you of something that matters even more:

You are human.

You were never meant to spend every moment producing, achieving, solving, leading, or proving your value.

You need rest.
You need joy.
You need people you love.
You need moments that have absolutely nothing to do with your career.

Your work is part of your story.

It is not your entire identity.

So close the laptop. Put down the phone. Take the nap. Laugh a little longer. Be present with the people who matter.

The work can wait.

So today, celebrate the impact you make and give yourself permission to rest, recharge, and simply be.
