🌟 Just one week until "A Night Without a Home", 2pm to 6pm Oct 3rd (Civil Rights Rally) and 7pm Oct 3rd to 7am Oct 4th (sleepout in the Miami Beach park)
This is a nonviolent civil disobedience action against unjust laws that punish people simply for being homeless. The City of Miami Beach has run a cruel, racist campaign of mass arrests against its unhoused residents — while banning shelters within city limits.
We're sleeping outside in Lummus Park to bear witness, and demand that Miami Beach protect -- not punish -- its most vulnerable residents. Miami Beach must support Housing First solutions to end homelessness -- not handcuffs that traumatize the poor and make homelessness worse.
⚖️ REQUIRED: If you're sleeping overnight at "A Night Without a Home" on Oct 3, you must attend our legal training zoom webinar — Wed, Sept 30 at 7pm. 🗳️ Also: Oct 3rd starts the LAST WEEKEND before Monday's FL voter registration deadline. Certified voter registration specialists from the League of Women Voters, FLIC Votes, and Ya Ya Por Vida will be onsite, 2–6pm at 11th St and Ocean Drive, to register you and verify your eligibility to vote in the midterm elections.
