A Florida Atlantic University graduate with a major in Urban and Regional Planning. I am a father of 5. I have two sons and a daughter biologically. I recently married, becoming a role model for my two step-sons. I have been dealing with child support since 2003, I have dealt with all the highs and lows of Child Support. I had my mother ask me once, “Now what are you going to do with the fact you
are on child support? How are you going to alert others of the same pain you face?”
Silenced, I really had no answer. It came to me two years ago when I tried to get some information about my child support account and ran into every road block I could have experienced. I had a state of Florida Child Support customer service worker at Child Support Enforcement Services tells me that, “you must not be a good FATHER…,” really. I answered her extremely proud and vividly, “I am More Than Just A Father, ” and this is how we have made this journey and here it is…..”More Than Just A Father!”…
The future of,” More Than Just a Father,” is to give child support non-custodial parents struggling with child support hope through meeting with others dealing with the same issues. To make everyone aware that children cost money and are major sacrifices. To have the masses understand that child support is not a cop out to being a responsible parent. Ultimately, having child support programs and laws better suited for both parties not just for custodial parents. Every day there are new cases, issues, law adjustments and enforcement problems to child support that raise eyebrows about what and why child support was placed into effect.
