We believe lasting change happens when a community works together. Arthur Center is proud to partner with the Mexico Area Chamber of Commerce and support the Getting Ahead program. This is collective impact in action, organizations coming together, removing barriers, and helping our neighbors build stronger, more stable futures.

We believe in this program, we believe in partnership, and most importantly, we believe in our community.

It Takes a Community to Help People Get Ahead

Since 2018, the Mexico Area Chamber of Commerce's Sustainability Project (MSP) has sponsored eight cycles of "Getting Ahead in a Just Getting By World", helping participants examine barriers, build resources, and create a plan toward greater stability.

Making Getting Ahead possible truly takes a community. Participants receive a stipend, a meal, childcare, and transportation as needed. Churches, civic groups, board members, and local grant funders have all helped along the way. Somehow, each year, when there is a need, our community steps up.

Transportation has consistently been one of our biggest challenges. This year, God provided through Arthur Center Community Health, which is providing the van, driver, and fuel to transport our participants.

Arthur Center’s commitment goes even further. They have invested in training Getting Ahead facilitators and held their first cycle of Getting Ahead in the spring of 2026.

This is what community partnership looks like: removing barriers, investing in people, and creating opportunities for lasting stability.

We are incredibly grateful to Arthur Center Community Health for helping our neighbors not just get by, but Get Ahead!

September is National Su***de Prevention Month.

This month is an opportunity to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and remind our community that su***de is preventable. We all have a role to play by checking in on one another, recognizing when someone may be struggling, listening without judgment, and helping connect people to support.

Throughout September, let’s keep the conversation going and remind those around us that hope, help, and support are available.

If you or someone you know needs mental health support, call or text 988 anytime to connect with the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.

Arthur Center loved being with the community at the Soybean Festival, walking in the parade and passing out popsicles. Then setting up our Mobile Unit with a cooling station, first aid station, and plenty of free water to help everyone beat the heat.

We love opportunities like this to be alongside our neighbors, support our community, and have a little fun along the way!

A big thank you to the Mexico Jaycees and everyone who worked so hard to make this year’s Soybean Festival such a successful community event.

Our team enjoyed attending the Callaway Chamber of Commerce Teacher Appreciation Breakfast at Westminster College!

We loved connecting with educators and sharing more about the many services Arthur Center can provide for students and their families, as well as the school partnerships that help us bring care and support closer to where students are every day.

Thank you to the Callaway Chamber for bringing everyone together and giving us the opportunity to celebrate the educators who make such a difference in our communities.

Today is our IT intern Drake Holloway’s last day with us before he heads back to State Technical College of Missouri for another school year!

There are so many careers that help make rural healthcare possible. From technology to direct patient care, every role plays a part in helping us Inspire Community Health & Wellness.

We love opportunities to grow our own, give the next generation hands-on learning experiences, and help students build skills right here in our communities.

Thank you for all your hard work this summer, Drake! We hope to see you back at Arthur Center again!
