Black dogs are more than the inspiration behind our name. They’re part of the inspiration behind our mission.

Seeing black dogs overlooked in shelters made us think about the power of assumptions, and how easily something deserving can go unnoticed when we don’t take the time to look beyond them.

That thought helped shape the kind of theatre company we wanted to build: one that brings overlooked stories forward and creates space for voices that deserve to be heard.

So let’s give some attention to the dogs who inspired our name. Consider adopting, fostering, volunteering at a shelter, donating, or simply sharing the story of a black dog who’s still waiting for their person.

Happy National Black Dog Day. 🐕‍🦺🐾🖤
