Today, we join our community and nation in observing Memorial Day.

We pause to honor and remember the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their selflessness, courage, and dedication to protecting our freedoms will never be forgotten.

As law enforcement officers, many of whom have also served in the military, we understand the profound weight of the oath to protect and serve. We stand in solidarity with the families of our fallen heroes, holding them in our thoughts today and every day.

As you spend time with family and friends this weekend, please join us in taking a moment of silence to remember the true meaning of this day.

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. 🇺🇸

Congratulation Sarge! Well deserved recognition for the great work you do!

Today, we honor and celebrate the dedicated men and women of law enforcement during National Police Week. It’s a time to recognize their courage, sacrifice, and commitment to keeping our communities safe. Join us in expressing gratitude to those who serve and in remembering those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Sgt. Paul Wathen of the Mesquite Police Departmenthas demonstrated an exceptional commitment to DWI enforcement and roadway safety throughout Mesquite and North Texas. As one of only a limited number of Drug Recognition Expert Instructors in Texas, Sgt. Wathen has played a critical leadership role in strengthening the department’s DWI enforcement program. Through his dedication, training, and mentorship, the department has experienced a tenfold increase in annual DWI arrests, greatly enhancing public safety. He was also instrumental in implementing the department’s 100% No-Refusal DWI policy, reinforcing accountability and helping remove impaired drivers from the roadways.

MADD Texas extends its sincere appreciation to Sgt. Paul Wathen for his unwavering commitment, professionalism, and service. We recognize and deeply value your dedication to the safety and well-being of our communities.

Our goal, in partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation, is to reduce crashes, injuries, and deaths on Texas Roadways. Join us in our mission to create a safer community.

They say a partner is someone who has your back without a second thought. For four years, Mesquite Police Department K9 Kozmo was exactly that, a fierce protector wrapped in loyalty.

​Five years have passed since that tragic day, but the halls of the department and the hearts of our officers still feel the weight of his absence. Kozmo didn't just "work" here; he lived for the job, for his handler, and for the safety of every citizen in .

​We don’t just remember the stats today. We remember the wagging tail at the start of a shift and the fearless courage he showed at the end of it.

​Rest easy, brave boy. Your brothers and sisters at the Mesquite Police Association will never let your name fade. 🐾🕯️

It’s Telecommunications Week 💛

Behind every call for help is a dispatcher making it happen.

Our Mesquite Police Department Dispatchers are the lifeline between our community and first responders – working tirelessly, often without recognition, to keep everyone safe.

This week, we had the honor of presenting them with custom Mesquite Police Association Telecommunications Week challenge coins as a small token of our appreciation.

The Mesquite Police Association is proud to support the Mesquite Police Association Charities' Autism Awareness Program because it provides our first responders with critical information that can make a real difference during calls for service.

When officers have access to important details like communication needs, behavioral considerations, or emergency contacts, they are better prepared to respond calmly, safely, and effectively. Programs like this help reduce misunderstandings and allow officers to approach situations with greater awareness and confidence.

This program is about preparation, safety, and strengthening trust between first responders and the families we serve.
