Randy West of Gilbert and David Banks of Peoria met at the Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center over 25 years ago when Banks needed a prosthetic and it was created by West.

That meeting was destined to turn them both into Good Samaritans.

Camp No Limits empowers kids with limb loss

No matter what, you can do anything you set your mind to. That’s what Camp No Limits proves to children with limb loss.

Eyewitness News went to Quinnipiac University where a summer camp is changing lives.

Twenty campers are letting loose, movin’ and groovin’. This energizer activity is only the beginning of each camper’s day.

“We have a lot of sports, we did sled hockey, wheelchair basketball, there is a gym we spend time in running and biking,” said Aaron Justice.

It’s a packed schedule but one that 18-year-old Aaron loves. After 3 years as a camper, he’s transitioned to a volunteer.

“It’s nice being here helping other people rather than being helped,” Aaron said.

Aaron is paying it forward. He said Camp No Limits is what got him to this confident place.

“The first year was definitely the hardest, because I could barely walk with my prosthetic and now I can do pretty much everything I could before,” said Aaron.

The boxer: Amputee takes to the ring, earns USA Boxing license

When this 13-year-old Kankakee boy bends his back to make his way through the thick ropes around the boxing ring in Bradley’s Gold Star Gym, he has already won.

Without hoisting his 12-ounce boxing gloves and throwing a single punch, Jose Vasquez has achieved more than anyone could have realistically anticipated.

No matter what might happen inside the ring, Vazquez, who will be entering his freshman year at Kankakee High School in about 45 days, is the most unique of boxers.

Triple amputee veteran attempts to become first to cross Pacific Ocean unsupported

A triple amputee Army veteran is hoping to become the first to sail across the Pacific Ocean solo and unsupported.

Craig Wood lost his left hand and both legs, and also sustained facial injuries after being hit by an improvised explosive device while on patrol in Afghanistan.

Recycler adapts loader for amputee employee

German building materials recycler D&H Baustoff Verwerungs (D&H) has invested in a customised Volvo wheeled loader to enable a member of its team to return to a role he loved, after a fall from height resulted in him undergoing a partial limb amputation.
