During National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we're reminded that some families come to us having fled unimaginable situations with nothing but their children and the clothes they wear. A bed represents more than just a place to rest—it's the beginning of stability and healing.

Our volunteers understand that kindness is everything. 🫶 We don't ask questions or pass judgment. We simply build and deliver beds, along with respect and compassion, because every child deserves both a safe place to sleep and to be treated with dignity.

As one mother recently shared: "They were all so kind, patient, and super respectful... coming from my background, that means a lot to me."

Good Morning.
We wanted to give everyone an update on Lake County SHP.
In June and again in August we experience several tornadoes and a derecho that struck our region. The site where we host our builds sustained damage, as did their home. Also our storage facility was without power, for a month. And several of our dedicated volunteers also experienced personal damage and loss. Which forced us to make the difficult decision ,to cancel our scheduled builds. So many across Northwest Indiana have been inpacted, and we asked that you continue to pray for our community, as everyone work together to recover. Getting back to normal is a step-by-step process, and we are determined and won't give up.

Our Mission Has Not Changed!

As of 2024, around 2.5 million children are being raised in kinship families in the United States. Kinship caregivers open their homes and hearts on short notice, giving kids stability when they need it most.

Our volunteers help ease that transition one way we know how: building and delivering of beds—because a soft place to land can make all the difference. 🛏️☁️✨

Our chapter has been pouring everything we’ve got into serving the kids in our community. But this year’s weather—from tornadoes and thunderstorms to severe smoke storms—has repeatedly halted our fundraising, building and delivery days.
