💗 KATSI HAS FOUND HER FOREVER FAMILY! 💗

We may be a little behind (okay, maybe a lot 😂) on our adoption announcements, but one thing will never change: every single one of our babies deserves their own moment in the spotlight!

And today, that spotlight belongs to Katsi! 🐾

Katsi has officially been adopted by the Carrion family! What started as love at first sight on Facebook turned into an even bigger love story when they finally met in person. Some things are just meant to be, and we think Katsi found exactly where she belongs. ❤️

Katsi is such a loving girl, and we hope she fills your home with endless happiness, laughter, cuddles, and all the love she has to give.

To the Carrion family, thank you for choosing rescue and opening your hearts and home to a BDDC baby. We are forever grateful that you chose us to be part of your journey!

And a special thank you to her wonderful fosters, Susy and Chad, for taking the time to love her, care for her, and help prepare her for this next chapter. Fosters are such an important part of every happy ending, and we couldn't do this without you!

WE NEED OUR COMMUNITY TO HEAR US. THIS IS SERIOUS.❗️❗️❗️

We know Big Dogs Don't Cry is often tagged and recommended when someone sees a dog in need. We appreciate that people think of us, trust us, and want us to help. We WANT to help. We want to keep pulling dogs and saving from situations where their lives are at risk and giving them a safe place to land until they find their forever homes.

But there is a very important part of rescue that people sometimes overlook: Someone has to be willing to foster that dog.

A rescue cannot survive on good intentions alone. It takes committed people willing to open their homes, provide stability, and help us keep these dogs safe while we work to find them families.

We also want to address something we often hear: Why did we save this dog and not that one? Why did we pull one dog when another was still waiting?

The answer is simple, even when it is heartbreaking. We can only save the dogs someone is willing to foster.

When we pull a particular dog or say yes to one, it is often because someone stepped forward and offered that dog a place to land. It doesn't mean that dog was more deserving, more important, or more worthy of saving. It means we had a committed foster for one and nowhere to put the other. Please don't judge the dog we were able to save without understanding the dog we had no place for.

And right now, we have a much bigger problem.

We have dogs already in our care who need help. We have adopters considering returns, foster commitments falling through, and not enough dependable foster homes to keep everything moving. We are reaching a breaking point.

We are seriously approaching the possibility of temporarily closing large-dog intake until we can get our current situation under control.

That is NOT what we want. We want to continue helping. We want to keep saying YES. But we have a responsibility to the dogs already depending on us, and we cannot continue taking in more dogs when we don't have the foster homes to safely care for them.

We cannot keep saving dogs if we cannot secure the futures of the ones we've already saved.

We aren't asking everyone to adopt. We are asking people to consider fostering. You don't have to keep a dog forever. You just have to be willing to be part of the reason that dog gets to forever.

Please don't just tag us when you see a dog in need. Consider being the person who makes it possible for us to say YES.

Share this. Talk to your friends. Open your home if you can. Help us find the people who are willing to step up.

We are not giving up. We are not walking away. We WANT to keep doing this work. But we cannot do it alone.

Big Dogs Don't Cry needs more than supporters who want us to save dogs. We need people willing to help us save them.

Our dogs are counting on us. And right now, we are counting on you.

🚨 PLEASE. WE REALLY NEED YOU RIGHT NOW. 🚨

We know we ask a lot.

We know there are always dogs in need. We know our posts can be heartbreaking. And we know that sometimes it feels like someone else will step up.

But right now, WE need someone to step up.

🐾 BRUNO NEEDS A FOSTER.
🐾 GINO NEEDS A FOSTER.

These boys have been waiting. They have been bounced around, sitting in situations that were never meant to be forever, while we continue trying to find them somewhere safe to land.

Big Dogs Don’t Cry is asked to take on so much. And we do everything we possibly can. We say yes when we can. We pull dogs when no one else will. We fight for them, advocate for them, and promise them that their lives matter.

But we cannot do this alone.

Right now, we are asking..no, begging..someone to extend their hand and open their home to Bruno or Gino.

You don't have to save every dog.

Just one.

One foster home could change everything for Bruno. One person saying, “He can stay with me,” could give Gino the chance he's been waiting for.

💔 HOW LONG DOES A DOG HAVE TO WAIT BEFORE SOMEONE DECIDES HE'S WORTH SHOWING UP FOR? 💔

His name is Gino. And honestly, we're running out of ways to ask for help.

Gino has been bounced around, spent time in boarding, even went through a board-and-train program. He's had people come and go, different environments, different faces, and one thing that hasn't changed…

NOBODY HAS STEPPED UP TO GIVE HIM A HOME.

Imagine being a young, happy dog who has absolutely no idea why life keeps moving you from one place to another. You don't understand boarding. You don't understand waiting. You don't understand why nobody is coming back for you.

You just want someone to love you. Somewhere to belong. A couch to call yours. A person who doesn't give up on you.

Gino is a good boy. ❤️
🐾 Great with kids and people.
🐾 Can coexist with calmer female dogs.
🐾 Has worked on basic obedience and commands through training.
🐾 Still young, happy, playful and full of life.

We know we've asked our community to consider fostering for Big Dogs Don't Cry many times. We know there are so many dogs needing help. But today, we're asking you to look at Gino.

Because here's the heartbreaking reality:

We cannot continue pulling big dogs into rescue if we cannot find people willing to help care for the ones already in our hands.

Boarding is not a home. Training is not a home. Being safe is important, but Gino deserves so much more than simply having somewhere to sleep.

We are a 100% volunteer-run, foster-based rescue. We don't have a building full of kennels. We depend on ordinary people opening their homes so extraordinary lives can change.

We need someone to open their door for Gino.

Not someday. Not when it's convenient. We need someone willing to say, "I'll help him. I'll give him a chance."

🚨 KRYPTONITE HAS BEEN FOUND… AND HE WEIGHS FOUR POUNDS. 🚨🐩

Meet Krypto..approximately one year old, 4 pounds, and somehow already convinced he should be carried like royalty everywhere he goes.

Seriously. This man has legs, but would prefer not to discuss them. 😂

Krypto is a teeny-tiny Toy Poodle or Maltese with BIG opinions about where he belongs:

❌ The floor
❌ Across the room from you
❌ Doing anything independently

✅ In your arms
✅ On your lap
✅ Being carried around like a tiny, curly-haired celebrity

He gets along with other dogs, but let's not confuse being polite with not knowing who the main character is. Krypto LOVES human attention and is currently accepting applications for the very important position of:

I WAS ALMOST A STORY THAT ENDED IN EAST CHICAGO. Instead, I became a story about second chances, people who refused to give up, and a family who fell in love with me. 🥹❤️

Hi, it's me. Reign. 👑
Once upon a time, I was just a tiny puppy fighting for my life on the streets of East Chicago, Indiana. I was found in a condition that almost took me away from this world. I was rushed to EVCC, and things were really, really scary.

But someone wasn't ready to give up on me.
Dr. G took over my care and fought to get me healthy. There were days when all I could do was rest and let the humans work their magic. And when I was finally strong enough to leave the hospital, one of BDDC's very own board members, Kristyn Alese Broach stepped up and took on the challenge of helping me continue my journey. She opened her heart and her home to a little girl who had already been through far too much.

And now… LOOK AT ME. 😭❤️
The Yurkanin family came along and somehow, little old ME hit the jackpot. But here's the thing… I think THEY hit the jackpot, too. Look at my family! Look at all that love!

I went from fighting to take my next breath to having a family to spend all my tomorrows with.
I don't know how to thank Dr. G from Merrillville Animal Hosptial, Kristyn, and every single person who refused to let my story end in East Chicago.

And to my Yurkanin family… thank you for seeing me, choosing me, and making me yours. I promise to fill your home with all the puppy kisses, happy memories, and unconditional love my little heart can hold.

I was somebody's almost-lost puppy. Now I'm somebody's whole world. ❤️

Thank you for choosing rescue. Thank you for choosing BDDC. And thank you for giving me the ending I almost never got to have.

Hi. Bruno Mars here. I’m approximately 4 years old, ridiculously handsome, and a full-sized Rottweiler with absolutely no idea that I am full-sized.

I am desperately looking for a FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME, so let's get right down to business...

I know basic commands, love human attention, and am happy to give paw like the distinguished gentleman I am. I do well with calmer dogs and, because I am a big playful boy who occasionally forgets I'm built like a small horse, I would do best with kids 10 and up.

Honestly, I don't think I'm asking for much. A place to sleep. Someone to love me. Maybe a couch. Definitely some snacks. And approximately 47,000 belly rubs per day.

But here's the serious part...

I REALLY NEED A FOSTER OR ADOPTER. URGENTLY.

🎃🐾 Happy Halloween from Lilly and her very first Halloween!🐾🎃

Somewhere along the way, these rescue dogs stop being “the dog we adopted” and become family.

They get their own spot on the couch. They make us laugh when we need it most. They leave paw prints on our hearts, fill our homes with chaos and love, and somehow become part of every holiday, every family photo, and every memory we make. ❤️

A huge thank you to the Logsdon family for adopting sweet Lilly from Big Dogs Don’t Cry and giving her a family to celebrate her very first Halloween with. 🎃

And to every single BDDC adopter who chooses to make one of our rescue animals a part of your family forever .. through the good times, the hard times, the messy times, and everything in between we adore you more than you know.

Because when you adopt, you aren't just giving a dog a home. You are giving them a place where they are loved, wanted, safe, and where they finally get to belong.

While everyone is out enjoying Halloween… dressing up, passing out candy, and making memories… rescue doesn’t stop. 🎃💔

Tonight, our hearts were somewhere else.

We were watching the clock. Worrying. Wondering how we could possibly save one more dog before it was too late.

Buddy at Indianapolis Animal Care Services had already been given three extra days. Three days beyond his deadline. And today, at any moment, his time could have run out.

Unfortunately, not every dog got the miracle they deserved.

Rest in peace, Douglas.💔 We are so sorry we couldn't get you out in time. You mattered. You were wanted. And we will carry your name with us.

But through the heartbreak came one small piece of hope.

Welcome to Big Dogs Don’t Cry, Buddy. 🐾❤️

Because an incredible foster stepped up at the last minute, Buddy gets to wake up tomorrow. He gets another chance. He gets to leave that scary place behind and learn what it feels like to be safe.

Thank you, Amanda, for saying YES when Buddy needed someone most.

And a huge thank you to our volunteers who jump into action behind the scenes, helping us screen applications ...especially in emergency situations like this. When time is running out, every minute matters, and we couldn't do this without you. ❤️

Tonight, while the world celebrates Halloween, one dog gets to live.

And that is why we keep fighting.
