We’re excited to introduce Noreen Vergara, Health Lawyer at Husch Blackwell, LLP, and a member of the Madam President Camp Board!

Noreen describes herself in three words: steady, witty, and futurist.

💬 What does leadership mean to Noreen?
“Leadership means being willing to step out front, to forge the path, to make the decision and absorb the consequences of that decision, all while trying to bring others along.”

For Noreen, leadership starts with that first step away from the group and toward what’s next.

🌱 The life skill she hopes every camper learns: How to center yourself before speaking in front of others or asserting yourself in a group. And, of course, how to understand health insurance paperwork! 😉

💜 Why did Noreen join the MPC Board?
Noreen has benefited from women mentors throughout her life, both personally and professionally. She recognizes how much those early experiences in middle and high school helped build the self-confidence that carried her into adulthood.

That’s why MPC’s mission is so meaningful to her — creating intentional mentorship and leadership opportunities for middle school girls and helping them develop the self-confidence and leadership skills that can shape who they become.

We’re grateful to have Noreen on our board, helping us invest in the next generation of confident, courageous leaders!

Middle school is when many girls start second-guessing their voices, holding back in class, and deciding they’re “not the leader type.”

At Madam President Camp, we’re here to change that.

Leadership is one of our core pillars, and a full day of camp is dedicated to it. Campers practice speaking up, making decisions as a team, and leading with confidence and kindness. Because leadership isn’t about being the loudest person in the room. It’s about believing your ideas matter and having the courage to share them.

When girls see themselves as leaders at 12, they keep showing up as leaders at 22, 42, and beyond. 🌟

We’re proud to introduce Sima Agayeva, Senior Project Manager in Federal Business Management at Oracle and a member of the Madam President Camp Board!

Sima describes herself in three words: resilient, dependable, and trustworthy.

💬 What does leadership mean to Sima?
“Leadership means leaving people better than you found them - by empowering, supporting, and inspiring them to grow.”

🌱 The life skill she hopes every camper learns: Patience - the ability to stay grounded, persevere through challenges, and trust the process.

Sima joined the Madam President Camp Board because she wanted to contribute to something larger than her day-to-day work and help inspire and empower the next generation of leaders.

We’re so grateful to have Sima helping us create opportunities for girls to find their voice, build confidence, and become leaders in their communities. 💜

Did you know that there are various ways you can donate to Madam President Camp?

We are so grateful to companies like Not Your Typical Gym (Parkville) who supplied camp donations such as puzzles, poster board, and other various supplies!

Because of our generous donors, our campers are able to participate in various hands-on activities as they develop their leadership skills! Thank you NYTG for continuing to raise her voice!

Girls in action! 💪🗳️

Madam President Camp was proud to partner with the Girl Scouts of NE Kansas & NW Missouri of Northeast Kansas and Northwest Missouri for a Let’s Vote! Democracy Badge Workshop!

Girls got a hands-on look at government in action—including running their own campaign to decide which Girl Scout snack should take the top spot!

At Madam President Camp, we believe civic engagement starts with learning to Learn more. Speak up. Get involved. 💙

Are you a Problem Solver, Detective, Communicator, or Encourager? 🔎💡💬💗

Great leaders know their strengths—and how to use them to help others.

Maybe you’re the person who finds solutions when things get tricky. Maybe you ask great questions, make sure everyone feels heard, or encourage others to keep going.

There’s no one “right” way to lead. Knowing what you’re good at can help you become a more confident, effective leader.

Today we celebrate National American Business Women’s Day! 💼✨

From entrepreneurs and executives to community leaders and innovators, women in business are making an impact every day—and showing the next generation what’s possible.

At Madam President Camp, we believe leadership starts early. When girls see women leading, creating, building, and making a difference, they can begin to see themselves doing the same.

Here’s to the women who are paving the way—and the future leaders who are ready to follow their example. 💪💗

Great leaders know themselves—and that starts with knowing their strengths. 💪✨

For aspiring leaders, understanding what you’re naturally good at can help you build confidence, work better with others, and discover how you can make a difference.

At Madam President Camp, we encourage girls to ask themselves:

✨ What are my strengths?
✨ What do others appreciate about me?
✨ How can I use my strengths to help others?

Because leadership isn’t about being the loudest person in the room, it’s about knowing what you bring to the table and using it with purpose.

Know your strengths. Own your voice. Lead with confidence. 💙

Say hello to Madam President Camp’s new Board Chair, Mimsy Tallent!

By day, Mimsy is the Senior Director of Growth & Engagement at Central Exchange, where she helps women grow as leaders. At MPC, that passion comes full circle as girls begin seeing themselves as leaders much earlier.

Three words that describe Mimsy? Curious. Empathetic. Driven. She asks a lot of questions, cares deeply about how decisions affect people, and once she believes something matters, she’ll keep at it until she finds a way forward.

That same heart shows up in how she leads.

“You don’t have to be blunt or hard-edged to be a strong leader. You can lead with heart, make difficult decisions, and still be someone people trust. To me, leadership means practicing what you preach and leading by example.”

And the one life skill she’d give every MPC camper?

Confidence. No hesitation.

“Girls are going to hear people tell them no, question whether they’re good enough, or even tell them they aren’t leaders. I want them to have an internal voice strong enough to know that someone else doesn’t get to define who they are.”

That one is personal for Mimsy. She remembers being a confident girl before bullying, awkward pr***en years, and being told she wasn’t a leader began creating self-doubt.

“I wish something like Madam President Camp had existed for me in the early 90s. I want girls to recognize the strengths they already have, know their voice matters, and understand that there isn’t just one way to be a leader.”

We’re excited to welcome Mimsy to the head of the table and even more excited for what’s ahead for Madam President Camp.
