How you listened to ? Idaho PTA appreciates the work of Matt Todd and we feel fortunate that we can partner with the show. The format of The Ranch Podcast allows Idahoans to connect directly with community, civic, nonprofit, political, educational leaders, and more…to understand issues that are at the center of Idaho living. ⁣

Alexis has been a guest on Matt’s show several times to share info that parents, educators, and community members are curious about. ⁣Alexis also has a podcast, The Purple Zone, that connects public policy, practice, and people.

Also a little fast fact history moment. Idaho PTA has been fortunate to have leaders, since our founding in 1905, that are centered on our shared goal: Idaho Kids Matter. Anna Hayes was from Twin Falls. ⁣

When was the last time you were at your state capital? What did you do there? Today I sat in on a floor session for the House of Representatives. You can also watch those via live stream. The House Speaker for Idaho, Mike Moyle, has a huge gavel that ends the session…and it’s loud. ⁣

I’ll be in DC in a few weeks meeting with Idaho lawmakers. Not a meeting with Congressman Fulcher yet, any connections there would be helpful. ⁣

What would you like me to be aware of? Send that my way. 🤓⁣

Policy isn’t abstract. It’s personal. 💜⁣

Yesterday Alexis, Director of Public Policy for Idaho PTA, testified in support of HB 531, updating epinephrine use in Idaho schools to reflect modern medical technology. 𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺? 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗺𝗼𝗺, 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗮 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗻𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲, 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗴𝗮𝗽 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗱.⁣

Our Idaho PTA Vice President, Anna, experienced this firsthand in McCall…𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘨𝘯𝘪𝘻𝘦𝘥 a limitation in Idaho code, 𝘢𝘴𝘬𝘦𝘥 𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴, and 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘑𝘰𝘴𝘩 𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱 𝘧𝘪𝘹 𝘪𝘵. That’s how policy should work.⁣

This is what happens when:⁣
✔️ parents speak up⁣
✔️ school nurses bring real-world expertise⁣
✔️ lawmakers listen⁣
✔️ and schools get safer for kids⁣

For moms. For school nurses. For public school staff. For everyone working to keep Idaho public schools the best they can be for our kids.⁣

This is the work. ⁣

Policy in Action is great when updated code is noticed. As in this legislation, HB 531⁣:
Updating language around EpiPen use in schools. ⁣

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗵 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹. ⁣

What do you think about the process of updating code?⁣
