YES, Veterans, Military, First Responders & their families LOVE to go shooting (It’s a popular sport)! YES, shooting can be very therapeutic. YES, we are very aware of the su***de rates & challenges of PTSD among our demographic, we live it daily. But starting a conversation & telling them they need to just give up their guns can be even more triggering. Fi****ms are a part of our culture, a part of who we are!
So, YES, we had s blast at the Building Stronger Veterans 2nd Annual Ammo Therapy Day 💥🇺🇸💥 It was a free, fun, family friendly event with various shooting competitions, resources for mental health & fi****ms all in the same place. All while raising $$$ to help Homeless Veterans have the opportunity to receive a tiny home, learn a trade & build a community of support for themselves.
We believe in having open & honest conversations about su***de risk & rates, fi****ms safety, responsible gun ownership, the importance of safety plans & buddy checks when someone is struggling. Our Courageous Survival Peer Support teams are trained & have helped many within our demographic walk through those safety plans, de-escalation, su***de prevention, interventions & get directly into culturally competent resources.
We do that by building relationships, trust, connecting them with peers who can help them navigate & get connected with incredible resources that can actually help them & their families.
If you or someone you know is struggling, please know that you are not alone, we care & that your life matters! We are NOT a crisis line, those resources are below. However, we can help you get ahead of your struggles before it’s too late. Call 1-866-274-4324 Ext. #1 for confidential peer support.
