Want to help ValorCares without writing a giant check? Good news.
There are a lot of ways to make a difference.

Volunteer at an event. Donate supplies. Share one of our posts. Tell someone about what we’re doing. Introduce us to an organization that could use some help.

Community support works because a lot of people do a little bit.

Want to get involved? We’d love to hear from you.

School supplies were only part of the story.

What really made our recent school supply drop special was getting to meet the teachers, staff, and community members who put those supplies to work every day.

Sometimes helping means solving a huge problem.

Sometimes it means showing up with boxes of crayons, notebooks, markers, and whatever else can make the start of the school year a little easier.

Why Doesn’t the School Provide That?
It’s a fair question.

Schools provide many of the essentials students and teachers need—but classroom budgets are limited, and every classroom is different.

A second-grade teacher, a special education teacher, and a middle-school science teacher may all need completely different resources. Sometimes those needs include specialized learning tools. Sometimes they include books, headphones, storage, sensory items, cleaning supplies, or materials that help students stay organized and engaged.

And sometimes, for the love of school supplies, a teacher simply needs another stapler.

Classroom wishlists aren’t usually filled with extravagant extras. They’re often filled with practical items teachers know will make their classrooms work better for the students in front of them.

When those resources fall outside the available budget, teachers frequently have to choose between going without, adapting, or purchasing items themselves.

That’s where the community can help.

Buying one item from a teacher’s wishlist won’t solve every challenge facing education. But it can solve one real problem for one teacher—and immediately place a useful resource into the hands of students.

🛒 Explore current classroom wishlists! They are all over our feed.

Can’t purchase an item today? Share this post. Someone in your network may be ready to give a teacher the stapler, headphones, books, or classroom supplies they need.

Anna is beginning her 12th year of teaching and continues to feel grateful for the opportunity to help students learn and grow each day.

📚 What does being “ready to learn” actually look like?

Sometimes, it looks pretty simple.
✏️ A pencil available when a student needs one.
🎧 Headphones that work during a reading activity.
📖 Books students are excited to pick up.
🎨 Art supplies ready for the entire class.
📝 Enough materials that no student has to sit out.
💙 A classroom where students feel welcomed, supported, and prepared to participate.

The individual items may seem small.
The feeling they help create isn’t.

When teachers have the resources they need, they can spend more time focused on what matters most: helping students learn, grow, build confidence, and discover what they’re capable of accomplishing.

That’s what Ready to Learn, Set to Succeed is all about.
It isn’t simply about school supplies.
It’s about removing small barriers and helping create more opportunities for students throughout our community.

And tomorrow, we’ll introduce another local teacher you can help support as she prepares her classroom for the new school year. 🍎

🍎✨ Teacher Spotlight ✨🍎

This week, we’re excited to introduce Meghan Lee, a Special Education Teacher serving 3rd and 4th grade students at Parkview Elementary in the Cedarburg School District!

💙 Meet Meghan:
Meghan is beginning her 15th year in education—and this year marks an especially meaningful return.
After taking time away from teaching to raise her children, Meghan returned to education four years ago as a reading teacher. Now, she is returning to the special education field, an area of education she describes as a true passion.
She is incredibly excited to begin this next chapter and once again support students through the individualized encouragement, instruction, and care that make special education so important.

📚 About the Classroom:
Every student learns differently, and Meghan’s classroom is a place where those differences can be understood, supported, and celebrated.
As she begins her first year back in special education, classroom resources will help Meghan create an environment where her 3rd and 4th grade students have the tools they need to learn, grow, build confidence, and experience success.
Help us give Meghan and her students a great start to the school year!

🍎 Teachers give a lot to their classrooms.

Their time.
Their energy.
Their creativity.
And, far too often, their own money.

National research found that teachers spent an average of $895 out of pocket on classroom supplies during the 2024–2025 school year.

That can mean books.
Headphones.
Folders.
Markers.
Learning tools.
Or simply the everyday supplies students need to participate.

No single teacher should have to carry that responsibility alone.

That is one reason ValorCares Foundation created Teacher Spotlights as part of our Ready to Learn, Set to Succeed initiative.
Throughout the school year, we introduce members of our community to local educators and give you a simple way to help fulfill the needs of their classrooms.

And sometimes helping is as easy as purchasing one item.
💙 One teacher.
📚 One classroom.
🎁 One donation.
🤝 One community helping make the load a little lighter.

Stay tuned tomorrow as we introduce our next Teacher Spotlight!

🎒✨ Ready on Day One ✨🎒

A new school year brings fresh notebooks, sharpened pencils, new classrooms, and a fresh start.
But for many teachers and families, getting ready for that first day also means figuring out how to cover the cost of everything students need to participate fully in the classroom.

And too often, teachers fill those gaps themselves.

Being ready to learn is about more than checking items off a school supply list.
It means making sure students can walk into their classrooms feeling prepared, included, and ready to participate from day one.

In our latest blog, we look at:
📚 Why teachers continue to spend their own money on classroom supplies
✏️ How even small items can make a meaningful difference
💙 Why classroom readiness should not fall entirely on one teacher or family
🤝 How community support can help students and educators start the year strong

Through Ready to Learn, Set to Succeed, ValorCares Foundation is proud to help connect teachers, students, families, and community members in ways that make classrooms stronger.
