As the former president of MESA, when Allen handed the reins over to me, he said one thing, "Don't you let this association die." MESA was his pride and joy. He was literally invested in providing for our continuing education of our youth. More than once when we were just a little short on scholarship money, he "remembered" some memorials he wanted to make, and he pulled out his checkbook on the spot to help out. He may have resigned his position, but he never stopped caring, and he continued to offer up ideas and suggestions that might make the association stronger. At our last reunion he and I talked about the growth we've seen in MESA. He approved. That actually meant a lot.
The Judge was so much more than MESA, but I can't stress enough how much he was a part of MESA. Our community and our youth have been made better because of Allen.
Our heartfelt condolences to the family from the Menard Ex-Students Association. We will miss Allen Amos.
