Markee Tate — our President & CEO — has an important op-ed in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution: “Private investments can build wealth, retirement security in Black community.”

He makes the case that allowing carefully governed access to private equity through 401(k) plans could do more than grow retirement accounts — it could unlock capital for Black entrepreneurs and help close the racial wealth gap. With the proper safeguards and equity goals in place, this policy change could be a significant step toward achieving generational wealth for Black families.

Read the full AJC op-ed and join the conversation about how retirement policy can be structured to expand opportunity and support Black-owned businesses.

Please like, share, and comment — what protections or design elements would you want to see if private market access were added to retirement plans?

Most Americans have 401(k) plans, but they are limited in their investments; thus, not maximizing the ability of workers to growth wealth and expand businesses.
