This is at the heart of Sacred Seeds, Tennessee’s first newly accredited Qur’an-centered program, where students learn the Qur’an and connect it to how they live every day. 🌱

Our students are learning about African American heritage, history, and the experiences that have shaped generations, as a part of our Culture Week. 🌎

Our conversations also included difficult parts of history, including the transatlantic slave trade, and the stories of the many African Muslims who were among those brought to America.

Teaching children history with honesty helps them better understand the world around them and the diverse stories that make up our community. 🌱

What if a child isn’t motivated to pray yet? 🌟

Children don’t always have the internal motivation to do something just because they know it’s important. Sometimes, they need an external incentive to help them get started.

When children are still developing the habit of salah, small incentives can help motivate them and make prayer something they look forward to.

The goal isn’t for the reward to become the reason they pray, but to help prayer become part of their routine while that motivation grows from within.

Over time, we want our children to move from praying because of the reward to praying because they understand the value of salah, love Allah, and want that connection with Him. 🤍

🇲🇦 A Taste of Morocco at Sacred Seeds! 🌱

During Culture Week, one of our families shared the beauty and richness of Moroccan culture with our students.

Students learned about traditional Moroccan clothing, Morocco’s rich history and contributions to Islamic culture, and the traditions that have been passed down through generations. And, of course, they got to enjoy some delicious Moroccan couscous together!

Jazak Allahu khayran to the family for sharing their heritage with our Sacred Seeds community and giving our students an opportunity to learn, connect, and experience a little taste of Morocco. ❤️

Did you know that only about 1 in 5 Muslims around the world live in the Middle East and North Africa? 🌎

The Muslim community is incredibly diverse, and our students got to experience a little of that diversity during Culture Week at Sacred Seeds.

Families shared their cultures and traditions from Mexico, Korea, China, Morocco, Yemen, Senegal, Cameroon, Nigeria, Mali, and African American communities, giving students the chance to learn from one another through stories, presentations, clothing, food, and more.

A beautiful reminder that there is no single culture that defines what it means to be Muslim. 🌱

🌎 During Culture Week at Sacred Seeds, one family shared the rich cultural heritage of their children, spanning the African diaspora in Cameroon, Nigeria, and Mali, as well as China and Mexico.

Students explored traditional Chinese clothing, learned about African American history and the history of the transatlantic slave trade, and discussed the lasting impact of African American culture on American life, from food and music to influential historical figures. They also explored Mexican cuisine and the traditions behind it.

It was a meaningful opportunity for our students to learn how history, culture, and family stories shape the world around us, while appreciating the many backgrounds represented within our own community. 🌱

🌱 A major milestone for Quranic education!

Alhamdulillah, Sacred Seeds, the elementary program of Miraaj Academy, is officially recognized as a Category III school in Tennessee and accredited by Cognia.

This means Sacred Seeds has met standards for educational quality and is now part of Tennessee’s recognized accredited private schools.

For us, it’s a recognition of what Sacred Seeds has been building: an education rooted in the Qur’an and Sunnah, while nurturing strong academic foundations.

Alhamdulillah for this milestone, and for the growing vision behind Sacred Seeds. 🤍 May Allah swt continue to put barakah in our efforts and the growth of our students!
