WOOF Connections DOG RESCUE :) www.woofconnections.org We have been involved in "rescue" since 2007 and started WOOF Connections in 2010. FOSTERS ARE DESPERATELY NEEDED!

My husband Kevin Carroll and I (Allison Ober Carroll) are two passionate animal lovers who are trying to make a difference in the lives of the forgotten pups. We try to network with legitimate rescues to help us place desperate pups in loving, indoor homes and are always looking for more "doggy partners".

It happened years ago, but like many poison cases, the sadness of it all sticks with me. This mother raccoon was poisoned by a neighbor. After ingesting the poison, she climbed back into her den with her little ones, where she would perish. Two of her babies would drink her milk and share her fate. The two surviving babies would remain the tree with their deceased family for two days, before someone noticed that something was wrong.

The two orphans were brought to our rescue. It took them weeks to recover emotionally. They were far more stressed and terrified than most orphans that come to us. I could understand why after all they had witnessed. Eventually, they came out of their shells and embraced their second chance at life.

Since then, I have personally witnessed SO MUCH death due to second generation anticoagulant rodenticides. Most photos I could share are far too horrific to post - so I won’t. Owls, hawks, weasels, fisher, foxes, bobcats etc are affected daily all over the country.

They are eating poisoned rodents and becoming poisoned themselves. We are killing the animals that naturally help us control the rodent population.

As evidence mounts, Pest control companies are launching their own attack against advocates to try and stop the ban of these harmful substances. They are having meetings, conferences, sending out massive emails, meeting with conservation commissions and legislatures to keep these poisons in our homes, schools and in our environments. There is money to be made, after all…

I AM TIRED.

It’s been years of telling these sad stories.

Of begging pest control companies to stop.

Of begging the state to do something…

Please stand with me this Monday the 27th at the state house for a hearing about the rodenticide bill.
Rally at 12:00 pm on the Boston State House steps and then Hearing at 1:00 pm in Hearing Room A-1.

PLEASE don’t lose steam now. Our wildlife counting on us. As tired as I am of speaking about this, I am far more tired of all the suffering and death caused by it.

A Man Who Searches Online for Animals to Rescue or Rehome Faces Felony Cruelty Charges

Authorities in Caldwell County have arrested Holden Miller of Lenoir after a disturbing case of animal neglect. Miller is charged with felony animal cruelty and is currently held in the Caldwell County Detention Center with no bond.

The investigation began when a tip was received that Miller had a horse tied to a tree behind his home. Officers discovered the animal about 70 yards into a wooded area without food or water, severely emaciated, and in need of immediate care. The horse and several other animals were seized, but despite treatment, the horse died.

This is not the first time Miller has faced charges. In April 2025, he was charged with three counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty, followed by another count in June 2025. Since April, authorities say nearly 170 animals have been seized from Miller’s control.

Investigators have reported that Miller actively hunts social media platforms and online marketplaces to acquire animals, often under the guise of rescue or rehoming.

⚠️ Public Advisory:
Do NOT sell, rehome, or gift any type of animal to Miller.

Keep those feeders full ❤️

Hummingbirds are filling up at our bird feeders before heading south! Peak migration leaving Indiana will be over the next 2-3 weeks.

The color bands roughly indicate the peak timeline of when most species of hummingbirds will be leaving your area.

There will still be stragglers until Halloween, so keep your feeders full until then!

According to Journey North, males leave first, then the females, then eventually followed by the new chicks / young. They are not guided by their parents, but rather use instincts to get to their winter homes in Central and South America.

The newly born hummingbirds need more time to fill up and strengthen before the long journey south.
