Field Trip! A very good turn out for our TSA Luncheon gathering and Display viewing today. There was a lot of laughter and big smiles along with the very tasty food. The Women's Exchange Cabin was an excellent choice for lunch The 2 exhibits everyone visited are very good:  People of Colonial North Carolina at the Village Town Hall Assembly room and A Forged Nation at the Cannon Park Community Center lobby.  It was even more fun with three of our Alfred Moore sisters joining us.

Five awesome members showed up to help make our community shine! ✨

While we picked up plenty of the usual (yes… lots of cigarette butts 😅), we also stumbled across a couple of very interesting finds—definitely kept things entertaining!

It wasn’t very dirty work, but it was a lot of fun. We got to catch up, laugh, and enjoy the time together… all while making a difference 💛

Bonus: this walk even counts toward our Junior DAR 5K—win-win! 🚶‍♀️🎉

It’s always a pleasure when work and enjoyment come together, especially when it provides the opportunity to visit with DAR sisters from across the state—Sherri Mangum visiting Dr. Sarah Hawes and Judy Casey. Thank you for lunch!

We were so fortunate to learn about “The Tory War of 1781” by Andrew Diemer. What a phenomenal speaker! He is a very deserving winner of the America 250! Commemoration Award.

Meteorologist Jacob Morse was presented with the American 250 Commendation Medal by NDSDAR for his unique piece on how weather helped the colonists win multiple battles against the British.

Thank you to Priscilla Jevne, the State Regent, who saw a piece and shared this most fascinating segment! (Link to view is below)

Here's what she had to say:
"Your Morse Code of Weather segments demonstrate that you not only just report the weather, but you want your viewers to understand what causes the weather. You teach your viewers why knowing the weather is important and how it may affect activities beyond farming and travel. We often do not think about how it applies to other events like our American history, and particularly the Revolutionary War. So, as we begin to celebrate America 250 this year, we, the North Dakota State Society Daughters of the American Revolution, would like to present you with an American 250 Commendation Medal in recognition of your Morse Code of Weather segment: 'How the weather played a major role in the Revolutionary War 250 years ago.'"
