Introducing baby Rhys. 🤍

We just heard from Mom and Dad that they went home today, and both are doing great. At 4 pounds 11 ounces, he is tiny but strong.

His name means ‘enthusiasm’ and we can already see that quiet strength in him! Though he’s small, God’s plans for his life are anything but.

‘Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you…’

The One who formed and knew Rhys before time began has also written his brilliantly beautiful story. 🤍

Days (and adorable photos!🥹) like this remind us what a GIFT it is to witness a life like this enter the world. It’s truly an honor and a blessing to have played even a small part in welcoming him safely here.

Welcome to the world, sweet Rhys. You, Mom and Dad are deeply loved and held in prayer. 🙏🏽 🤍

Friends,

As we come to the close of 2025, I want to first pause to say thank you for all you have given to make the success of this year possible. Truly, there are not enough hours in the day to express the immense gratitude we hold in our hearts for you.

I also want to share one final invitation to give before the end of the year.

As you consider a year-end gift, please know how deeply meaningful your support is. Only through faithful partners like you, pregnant women and their babies, who would otherwise fall through the cracks, are receiving free, life-affirming maternal healthcare that honors their value and worth, meets real medical needs, and offers the hope of Christ.

Your generosity is not just a gift; it is a tangible expression of LOVE that truly changes lives, as the beauty and worth of Jesus is made known to them in each visit.

December 31st is the last chance to give a gift and receive charitable donation benefits for 2025 gifts. Giving by check? Donations postmarked by December 31st will count as this year.

Will you help us continue this sacred work in 2026?

‘The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.’ John 1:5

Thank you for your prayers, your generosity, and your belief in this mission.
We are filled with expectation for 2026!

For Life,
Pia Jo Reynolds

Merry Christmas from all of us at the Morning Center.🤍

At Christmas, we remember that God chose to come close... to enter our world not with fanfare, but as a baby, wrapped in humility and love. Emmanuel. God with us.

That same love still meets moms right where they are— often in the middle of fear, uncertainty, and unseen courage. And it’s an honor to witness how the presence of Jesus brings light, dignity, and hope into those moments.

Thank you for walking with us, for believing in life, and for helping us reflect the love of Christ in tangible ways. Because of you, moms and babies are not alone.

Merry Christmas. May you know His nearness today and always.

Oh holy night—the night heaven touched earth.

The King exchanged His throne for a manger, the Shepherd-King became the Lamb who was slain, and peace dawned for those walking in darkness.

It’s coming...
Merry Christmas Eve.

Dear Friends,

I want to tell you about a mom I’ll call Nora.

When we met her, she was sitting on our exam table—sixteen years old, pregnant, and staring at the floor as if wishing she could disappear. Her mother stood beside her, recounting a terrifying moment when three men attacked her at a stop sign, demanding money and punching her in the face while her children screamed in the back seat. She told me they only escaped because an ambulance pulled up behind them.

And as her mother spoke, Nora never looked up.
Her shoulders curled inward.
Her silence spoke louder than words.

She has endured more than most adults:
a father lost to violence,
a mother working two jobs to keep the family afloat,
and a pregnancy that began when a grown man pulled up
beside her school and invited her into his car, twice,
before disappearing.

This is the kind of weight she carries.
This is the kind of burden many of our moms carry.
They do not know their worth. They only know what they’ve been taught.

When I looked her in the eye that day and told her, “You’re going to be a good mother,” something in her softened. Just a little. But it was enough. Enough to remind her she was not alone, and that her story didn’t have to end where it started.

We meet moms like Nora every week.

Brave. Hurting. Quietly hoping someone will help them and their babies find safety, dignity, and a way forward. Believing God has rejected them, and not knowing how to find Him.

And this… this is exactly why the Morning Center exists.

Because of partners like you, expectant mothers who carry heartbreaking stories, overwhelming barriers, and generational wounds are met with something radically different: compassion, dignity and excellent prenatal care, wrapped in the love of Jesus.

They receive the kind of medical care they would never have access to otherwise—care that steadies them, strengthens them, and gives their babies a healthier beginning.

This year, your generosity made it possible for moms to receive:
*Life-saving prenatal and postpartum care.
*Telehealth support when moms needed it most.
*Early identification of high-risk situations.
*Mentorship and emotional support.
*The life-changing hope of the Gospel.
*A circle of support through hospitals, churches, and community partners.

Together, these create real change... giving moms like Nora the safety, stability, and hope they deserve. And we strongly believe this is what true ‘healthcare’ should look like.

As we close out the year, I want to ask you, personally, to consider standing with us in a meaningful way.

Your generosity has the power to reach mothers who are carrying unimaginable burdens and to place hope, safety, and excellent care directly into their hands. Every gift matters. Every gift transforms a life. And right now, we are ready to serve more moms than ever before—but we cannot do it without you.

There are three impactful ways to give:

1. A one-time year-end gift to immediately expand access and strengthen care.
2. 3. A monthly recurring partnership that sustains moms and babies all year long.
A multi-year annual commitment that secures long-term stability and allows us to grow boldly and wisely.

Your generosity doesn’t just support a clinic.
It surrounds a mother with safety.
It gives a baby a healthier beginning.
It opens the door for the love of Jesus to meet a heart in need.

Whatever you feel led to do, please know this: your gift today will change someone’s tomorrow.

In Him & Eternally Grateful,
Pia Jo Reynolds

09/09/2025

Dear Friend,

On August 26th, 2025, our Memphis clinic celebrated their re-opening with an official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Open House. This is a huge victory for Memphis, a city that leads the nation in infant mortality rates, and equally for the ministry of the Morning Center! In response to a system that is often unable to meet the needs of those on the margins, our community —in Memphis and beyond— has chosen to stand in the gap for moms without medical care. As our CEO, Pia Jo Reynolds, shared, “The reason we are able to open our doors today is because of a ‘YES’ in the hearts of the people of Memphis.”

The overwhelming support we received on reopening day served as yet another powerful confirmation of our calling to this ministry. We know that we are placed in Memphis, at this time, for a specific purpose—to serve in the name of Jesus. As community partner Hayden Simons shared during the ceremony,

“We’re not here because of what Memphis can do for us—we’re here because God planted us here and we are going to make Memphis better.”

It has been a privilege to watch the seed of hope for this ministry that God planted in our hearts flourish through the support of people like you! Our Memphis clinic staff cannot wait to share how God will continue to work through His people to bring about stories of redemption in our city.

Pia Jo spoke to the significance of these stories at the ceremony: “Many of the moms that we see only have experienced the city through the way that the media portrays Memphis—it’s dark and depressing and sad—but we know that through the transformative love of Jesus that they can step into new life. And that is ultimately the heart of this ministry.”

So friends, in the midst of this exciting news, we ask you to continue your prayers and support! Pray for our Morning Center moms and that they might experience flourishing life. We know that this can only be found through relationship with Jesus Christ. We also ask that you continue praying for our medical team as they minister to the hearts of moms who have walked through incredible hardships. May they be vessels of the presence of Jesus to each one.

We are so grateful for you!

"I have a dream that one day… cities across the nation will be redeemed and restored by the transformative love of Jesus."

A PERSONAL REFLECTION FROM OUR CEO, PIA JO REYNOLDS🕊️

I once read that while your assignment may change, your calling and purpose won’t.

So I began to ask the Lord to bring clarity to these things for my own life—my unique design. And because He’s such a good Father, He made it clear, fast.

My purpose is eternal: to know Him and be known by Him. It’s simple, really. Communion with the triune God.

My calling? To be a messenger of God’s redeeming love. My assignment? Well, that shifts with the seasons. And, frankly, that’s where the adventure with Him gets real.

This understanding has been so incredibly freeing. It’s allowed me to go wherever He calls without the weight of expectation for me to change who I am in the process.

So, as you can imagine, when the Lord called me into healthcare, it was… unexpected. But then again, what isn’t when you’re adventuring with Holy Spirit through this wild thing called life?

“I want to lead a prenatal clinic,” said no version of me, ever.

Yet here I am, four years later, humbly stepping into the role of President and CEO of the Morning Center, with fresh vision, fire, and deep hope for what’s ahead.

Friends, I believe it’s past time for the Church of America to take her rightful place, bringing the Kingdom of God into some of the most burned-out, overlooked, and broken spaces of our culture.

Healthcare is certainly one of those spaces.

And as more abortion clinics close and more women choose life, the need for prenatal care will only grow… especially among the marginalized.

The Church was once the front line of healthcare. If you’re not familiar with the history of the Church in healthcare, I highly recommend taking some time to look into it.

It’s fascinating… and humbling.

We didn’t run from the sick and the poor, from those in need of care. We ran to them. And if we’re going to pray for abortion to end, we’ve also got to be willing to show up where it’s messy and hard, because that’s where Jesus always did.

We must be willing to become the hands and feet of Jesus in the places where it costs something.

So now, more than ever, I understand that truth I learned years ago: assignments may change, but purpose and calling? Nope. Not even a little.

Whether I’m leading an organization, mobilizing movements, consulting, counseling, mentoring young adults, writing songs, leading worship, managing my home, encouraging my amazing husband, or simply being a safe place for a friend…

My purpose is communion with God, still.
My calling is to be a messenger of His redeeming love, still.

And this current assignment—reimagining what healthcare can become when it’s led by love—is a wildly unique expression of both.

So while the dream to see cities (people) across the nation redeemed and restored can feel unattainable, my small part in it is deeply personal. It's how the message of His redeeming love moves from theory to reality. It's what it looks like to live on a ‘yes’.

That dream may sound big—because it is.
But, in this season, it starts right here:

I have a dream…
That every mother would know her worth.
That every baby would be welcomed with dignity and love.
That cities would flourish because the Church dared to show up where it hurts.

Because the dream isn’t just mine.

It’s His.

And while this assignment entrusted is only a small part of the bigger story,

I give Him my yes.

One mom, one baby, one city at a time.

In Him,
Pia Jo Reynolds

Dearest Friends and Partners,

We’re writing to share an important and beautiful update in the life of the Morning Center. After nine years of faithful, visionary leadership, Matt Larson will be stepping down from his role as President and CEO at the end of this month.

Matt’s leadership has been marked by humility, conviction, and a deep love for Jesus and the moms and babies we serve. From pioneering new clinics to weathering storms with steadfast faith, he has poured out his heart to see this mission flourish—not just as an organization, but as a movement that seeks to transform lives through the power of the Gospel.

He has led with integrity, compassion, and a tireless commitment to building a ministry that reflects the heart of Christ. We are deeply grateful for the legacy he leaves—a foundation built on prayer, courage, and the unwavering belief that every life is precious.

After much prayer, and with great peace, joy, and full confidence, the board has appointed Pia Jo Reynolds as our next President and CEO.

📝A NOTE FROM MATT:
Serving at the Morning Center has been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life. We often like to think we know what the Lord is calling us into only to quickly discover that we really have no idea. In such cases, our expectations of what we are "called to do" lead us to feel that we are barely moving the needle. However, God's barometer of success transcends what humans perceive as successful.

One of the most extraordinary things I've experienced during my time at the Morning Center is some of the broader societal changes that have taken place over the past nine years. When I first said “yes” to taking this job, I remember going on stage at the church we were attending and proclaiming to the congregation that we would be shutting Planned Parenthood down.

Now I’m not naïve enough to think that the Morning Center is what has caused the shutdown of so many Planned Parenthood clinics. However, I see how God‘s providence is at work and how He has used ministries like ours and the hearts of His followers in this nation to help bring about the defunding of one of the most destructive entities in our lifetime. Clinic after clinic is closing—something my heart felt nine years ago.

Even so, we must not grow tired of our sacred work of caring for moms—providing a vision for the future, champing families, and of course, loving each child as the image bearer of God, the Imago Dei.

When the Lord showed me that it was time for me to step away, he also showed me the person who was supposed to step in. From the moment I met Pia Jo Reynolds and her husband Jason (who has since become a dear brother and friend) over lunch at Perkins in Memphis, I knew that Pia Jo was not only going to be the Executive Director of the Memphis Clinic, but someone that would one day lead this entire organization. Do yourself a favor: take a moment to hear her testimony sometime. It’s absolutely beautiful to see the redemptive work of God in her life, the lives of her kids, and in her marriage.

Truth be told, if the Board of Directors had a list of all the things we would love to see in a person who leads this ministry, I don’t think I would ever believe we would actually have found that person—but through God’s grace and provision, we have found that person in Pia Jo.

Thank you for the privilege of serving this mission the last decade. I’m excited and expectant for all the Lord will continue to do in and through it in the years ahead.

_____

📝A NOTE FROM PIA JO:
I’m incredibly humbled and honored to step into this. From the moment I first joined the Morning Center, I knew this was sacred ground—a place where God would make himself known. Something holy was happening through this unique work and the Lord, in His loving kindness, was inviting me in. And as we move forward together, I believe even more strongly that we are part of something God-breathed.

I say yes to this role with a heart full of gratitude and hope in Jesus. What a gift it is to partner with God, and with each of you, in serving these moms and babies, carrying the gospel to the lost and broken, and linking arms with such INCREDIBLE people as we move forward in seeing lives changed and hearts transformed by the love of Jesus.

I’m excited for the days ahead—not because it’s an essy road ahead, but because we are being led by the One who opens doors no man can shut. He is building something beautiful, and I’m honored to continue building alongside you.

I also want to express my deep gratitude to Matt—not only for his nine years of faithful leadership but for the way he has personally poured into me during my own four years at the Morning Center. His love for Jesus, belief in this mission, and servant-hearted investment have helped shape what’s next, and I step forward with a deep sense of inheritance and honor.

As we move into this next season together, we ask for your continued prayers, support, and engagement.
The need is great.
The opportunity is greater.
And the presence of Jesus is here, inviting us to go further still.

_____

We are deeply grateful for Matt’s remarkable years of leadership and full of hope for what lies ahead under Pia Jo’s leadership. This transition marks an exciting new season for the Morning Center, and we look forward to sharing more with you in the days to come.

If you’d like to connect with Pia Jo directly or hear more of her heart for this mission, or just send an encouraging word, feel free to contact her at [email protected].

While taking on this national leadership role, Pia Jo will remain deeply connected to Memphis, Tennessee, continuing to lead the clinic there.

We’re excited about all that’s ahead and are trusting God to provide everything needed to move forward with strength and vision— knowing this mission has always been carried forward through the faithful prayers, generosity, and partnership of friends like you.

THE HONOR OF BEING A FATHER: Perspectives from our Memphis Medical Director

"Being a father is the second greatest honor and privilege of my life--with the first being married to my wife." - Dr. Aaron Mitchell

We recently sat down with our Memphis Medical Director, Dr. Aaron Mitchell, to hear his valuable perspective on fatherhood—both as a father of four and as it relates to the ministry of the Morning Center.

As Dr. Mitchell sees it, fatherhood is one of the clearest ways men can reflect the image of their Creator—linking the father’s role in a child’s life to our relationship with the Heavenly Father.

He states, “God cares for us; He loves us. He wants us to be a part of His family and to show us that the best life we could ever live is with Him. That’s exactly what I want to model to my own children!”“There is one constant, and that is Jesus. He says, ‘Come home and be a part of My family.’”Fatherhood is a sacred calling—not just to provide financially, but to shape the very culture of the home. It means modeling Jesus by cultivating a family life where both the highs and lows are walked through together, in love and presence. This challenges the narrow view that a man’s sole responsibility is economic, and instead calls fathers into a fuller, more engaged presence— emotionally, mentally, spiritually, socially, and physically. Like our Heavenly Father, earthly fathers are meant to create an environment where their children can truly flourish.Dr. Mitchell shares that this is why fatherhood is significant even in the context of our ministry—providing free prenatal and postpartum care to moms in need. “We have so many moms who have been in relationships that were potentially harmful to them,” he says. “Our moms are about to experience one of the greatest joys—motherhood—but they are often experiencing it alone.”

Our amazing Memphis Medical Director desires to see families transformed through the unity of father and mother, working together—specifically in the city he calls home.

"All throughout the Memphis area, I would love to see a rallying cry to get men back into the family and to take ownership of their place in creating flourishing families."

The Morning Center has a unique platform to live out this rallying cry. While we provide healthcare for women, we are equally committed to encouraging family flourishing across the cities we serve. One powerful way we do this is by welcoming fathers into the care process—encouraging them to attend appointments, affirming their importance, building relationships that speak life into their role, and partnering with organizations that specifically minister to fathers.

As our conversation drew to a close, Dr. Mitchell offered a vision filled with hope and transformation. Many of our patients have experienced deep hurt and hardship. However, through the transformative power of Jesus Christ, Dr. Mitchell believes that fathers have the ability to “break this cycle” in their own families.

He states, “There is nothing like a newborn baby to usher in a new era of manhood. We, as fathers, can follow the example of Jesus Christ and pass this down through ourselves to our children."

This Father’s Day we want to emphasize the importance of a father’s presence in creating a family culture that reflects what God is doing among His people. He creates a home—and He invites us into family.

To the fathers working to create a culture of flourishing life within their families—we see you. To the fathers breaking cycles of generational hurt in partnership with the Holy Spirit—we celebrate you.

We are deeply grateful that you are walking in the footsteps of your Heavenly Father, creating a home for those He has entrusted to your care.

Happy Father's Day!

Who Cares?

We do. The Morning Center provides the care women need. Pregnancy can be an incredibly difficult time. Even more difficult when you do not have people around you that love and support you. Add on challenges like limited funds, complicated relationships, homelessness, etc., and it can be overwhelming. Let’s face it, life is hard and caring people are a rare commodity. We not only provide pre-natal through postpartum care to moms in need, we also love these moms holistically and unconditionally.

How often do you need someone to just listen and care? In addition to providing the highest level of medical care, this is what our doctors, nurses, medical professionals, and administrative staff do every day. We value the inherent dignity of each human-being we serve, and the team demonstrates this to every person that walks through our doors.

We are completely privately funded by donors like yourself, and because of that we offer our services at no charge. Thank you for your continued support. To donate to this project, go to https://www.morningcenter.org/give/
