We’re excited to bring you the second episode of our fourth season featuring John Dunavant (Memphis ‘14). John was born and raised in Memphis, and after graduating from Rhodes College joined the 2014 corps right here in his hometown. Something that stood out to John during his Institute experience was the fact that all of these people had committed to Memphis, and this idea of giving back to the community, of committing to something big, is something that drives him in his work.

In this episode you’ll hear John talk about his corps experience, how being a native Memphian was a boon to him in the classroom, the importance of building relationships with students, the connection of his his current work with the vision for One Day, his reflections on 20 years of TFA Memphis, his advice for corps members and alumni, and so much more!

We’re excited to bring you the first episode of our fourth season featuring Andrea Wensits (Memphis ‘12). Andrea is originally from Appleton, Wisconsin and graduated from Indiana University. While in college, she started tutoring, which made her think about a career in teaching, which led to her applying to Teach For America and coming to Memphis as part of the 2012 corps. Although she later left to attend graduate school, Memphis became home and she returned to teach at her placement school, continued working with MICR, and is now the Executive Director of that organization.

In this episode you’ll hear Andrea talk about why she chose Memphis, her corps experience, how she became involved with Memphis Inner City Rugby, the importance of doing everything possible to support students transitioning from high school to college, what motivates her to do the work, how she brings her vision of One Day to life, her advice for corps members and alumni, and so much more!
