If we’re being real WAXING isn’t the area of the beauty industry that most TEEN girls would think would be interesting or fun 😩. But during The Adrienne Small Foundation 2023 , our girls found out FAST just how amazing waxing as a career could be.

But today’s question is: How can we expect our girls to know what they want to become if they haven’t been exposed to what’s possible? 🤔

We ask them about their future, their goals, and their career plans, but sometimes the only thing missing is the opportunity to EXPLORE.

At , we’re not asking girls to have it all figured out.

We’re giving them access to real experiences that can help them discover their interests, ask questions, and see possibilities beyond what they already know.

Maybe she’ll discover her passion. Maybe she’ll discover something isn’t for her. Either way, she gains something valuable.

Because exposure isn’t about choosing a career today. It’s about knowing you have OPTIONS tomorrow! 💛

One thing I’m glad I did was chase my dreams 🤩.

At 13 I already had a clientele coming to the house getting their hair braided but was also told hair was to just be a hobby and not a real career… that I should stick to the college track (which I did), corporate job (had one of those for a SPLIT second), benefits, the whole Shabang!

I wasn’t exposed to the inside of the Industry until I was able to expose myself at 19 and BA-BY, when the doors opened, it flooded with all the possibilities that were waiting for ME!

I WISH I had at 13 what we offer here at The Adrienne Small Foundation and every single mentor that has been apart of our program say the same thing year after year.

For the last 8 years, our mission has always been to create opportunities where the exposure creates possibilities and their experience builds confidence.

And sometimes, all it takes is ONE opportunity to discover a future they never imagined. To date we have awarded more than $250k in beauty school scholarships and it was all because we created the opportunity! You just need to get here!

Even if this isn’t a career path for the teen girl in your life, I promise you, the exposure alone, is worth it in the end!

The Adrienne Small Foundation had the opportunity to take 12 of our teen girls to visit , home of !

Did you know was based RIGHT HERE in Memphis, TN?! So many people had no idea they were here, let alone that they offered hands on tours of their manufacturing plant!

Our girls had the opportunity to work the production line, meet with biochemists AND create their own gel, all while learning about every single ingredient and it’s purpose inside of their products!

We may not have been able to host our 8th Annual Girlpreneur Beauty Camp this summer like normal, but THIS experience far exceeded our expectations while absolutely tapping into our mission of exposing teen girls in the beauty industry to experiences FAR beyond teaching them behind the chair skills!

This industry is FULL of opportunities and today’s “field trip” just showed me exactly how to pivot with the way we serve our girls 😉.

This is one of the hardest announcements I’ve had to make.

After seven incredible years of serving young women through Girlpreneur Beauty Camp, we will not be hosting camp this summer.

The facility partnership that allowed us to host camp over the last five years is no longer available, and the cost of securing it for the week or a comparable venue exceeds $10,000, an expense our nonprofit is not currently able to absorb.

While we’re disappointed, we’re not defeated.

Our mission remains the same: to provide education, mentorship, resources, and opportunities for future beauty professionals. This year may look different, but our commitment to the girls we serve has not changed.

Thank you to every family, volunteer, educator, sponsor, donor, and supporter who has been part of this journey. Because of you, hundreds of young women have been exposed to careers in the beauty industry and encouraged to dream bigger in ways no one else has done!

We appreciate your support and look forward to sharing what’s next! ✨
