United Shelby County Council LEADING THE WAY with PTA...L-E-A-D Liaison--Education--Advocacy--Direction

Newly formed United Shelby County Council PTA (formerly Shelby County and Memphis Council PTA) coordinating body for PTA and PTSA units organized under the authority of Tennessee PTA. We promote the interests of National and Tennessee PTA by providing communications, programs, leadership training for local units as well as assisting Tennessee PTA in the formation of new local units. It is our priv

ilege to encourage united strength and cooperation among our local units in carrying out the purposes of PTA:

To promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, community, and place of worship;

To raise the standards of home life;

To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth;

To bring into closer relation the home and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth; and

To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social, and spiritual education.
