Our new sign...
We recently had a sista who couldn't find us because "nobody told me exactly where y'all were. I was walking up Tillman and saw y'all's sign. I'm so tired and hungry. I'm glad I found y'all!"
Alex Choi saw the previous post and generously made this bigger, brighter sign so that it's easier for our new sistas to find us!

Sister Supply, thank y'all for stocking our Drop In Center's closet with much needed feminine products. Thank you for all you've done for local non profits! We are grateful for such generosity!

When our sistas come to The Drop In Center and ask for help to put the drugs down,we are committed to make phone calls to get them the help they need. Thank you Woodland Recovery Center for accepting our sista into your Center. Thank y'all for coming to get her immediately.

Sista2Sista and The Binghampton Group...
Most of our sistas who come to The Drop In Center are in active addiction. We've had many sistas who began coming to the Center addicted and are now sober. We currently have sistas who talk about wanting to get sober, have put forth no effort and are searching for hope.
The Binghampton Group is a recovery group that meets in the same building as The Drop In Center. We have partnered together in hopes our sistas may hear something that encourages them to get sober. Instead of leaving the Drop In Center at 330 on Wednesday, the Center will stay open until 6 pm. Sistas are welcome to stay, rest and have a snack while the meeting is there.
Hopefully someone will hear something that lets them know they are not alone...

2 sistas...
This week, 2 sistas reminded us exactly why The Drop In Center matters so much.
One sista came to us for the very first time. She came thru the door crying because she had such a hard time finding us.
She told us she almost gave up looking for us and then she saw the Sista2Sista sign on our door. She simply said "thank yall" as she cried while eating a hot meal.
Sometimes people don't realize how much a hot meal and a safe place means.
Another sista returned after months back on the streets. Her feet were so swollen, she wore mismatched shoes. One shoe had to be 2 sizes too big for her foot to fit in a shoe.
She was tired and so dirty, we kindly asked her to shower before sitting on the furniture.
She said "thank y'all" after a shower and a meal.
Our sistas are grateful our community has this Safe haven.
This is why Sista2Sista exists...
For women who are lost, hungry, hurting, exhausted and trying to survive one more day...
